There is no single worldwide My Nintendo Store invite process for Nintendo Switch 2. The Australia/New Zealand selection campaign announced in 2025 has ended, while a separate Japan-only listing says only people invited through the Japanese store may buy that model. Check your own country’s official My Nintendo Store and Nintendo announcements for current availability; no currently open global application is established here.
Start with your country’s My Nintendo Store
Invite rules are regional, so an eligibility checklist from one country does not automatically apply elsewhere. The official information covered here is a past Australia/New Zealand campaign and a Japan-specific invite-only product listing—not a universal route to a console.

- Open the official My Nintendo Store for your country and check its current Nintendo Switch 2 product and announcement pages.
- Read the terms on that regional page for account country, delivery address, selection method, dates, and any membership or gameplay requirements.
- Use only a current application or invitation notice. The Australia/New Zealand deadlines below have passed, and the Japanese listing is restricted to its own model and region.
Australia and New Zealand: the 2025 campaign has ended
Nintendo Australia announced a three-round opportunity on April 7, 2025, for eligible Nintendo Account holders in Australia and New Zealand to register interest in pre-purchasing a Nintendo Switch 2 or a Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. Registration opened April 9, and all registration and purchase windows ended in May 2025. The announcement is Nintendo Australia’s campaign notice.
Who qualified at the time
The campaign terms required each registrant to meet all of these criteria:

- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
- Be resident in Australia or New Zealand, with a Nintendo Account set to the corresponding country and a valid delivery address there.
- Have been the purchaser of a paid Nintendo Switch Online Individual or Family membership for at least one year in total.
- Have more than 50 hours of qualifying Nintendo Switch gameplay by 23:59 UTC on February 28, 2025.
- Be the purchaser of an active paid membership both when registering and when making a pre-purchase.
Free trials and free software did not count toward the relevant membership and gameplay tests. Qualifying gameplay also required Usage Information sharing to be set to “Allowed.” These were conditions of the 2025 campaign, not evidence of current requirements in Australia, New Zealand, or any other region.

Eligible applicants could indicate interest in both purchase options but could be selected for only one; the limit was one console per customer. Nintendo said selected registrants would be notified by email. Missing the assigned purchase window meant forfeiting that opportunity, while someone not selected earlier could be considered in a later applicable round.

Japan: a separate, Japan-only invitation listing
Nintendo Japan’s My Nintendo Store listing is for “Nintendo Switch 2 (Japanese-language, Japan-only).” The page says only people who received an invitation through that store’s invitation sale may purchase it, and that only Nintendo Accounts with country/region set to Japan can link to the model. See the Japanese My Nintendo Store listing. This is not an international purchase route, and its rules do not establish eligibility criteria for Australia, New Zealand, or other countries.

Not necessarily. Nintendo of America distinguishes physical-item “pre-purchases” on Nintendo Store from digital-game “pre-orders” on Nintendo eShop. Its support guidance says a physical pre-purchase is charged in full immediately and ships 1–3 business days after release; digital game pre-orders have different payment timing. This guidance is specific to Nintendo of America and should not be taken as a payment or shipping promise for every regional My Nintendo Store. See Nintendo of America’s pre-purchase support page.

If you missed an invite, consider only region-compatible retail options
A retail listing for a Nintendo Switch 2 console is separate from My Nintendo Store selection: buying elsewhere does not grant an invite, qualify an account for a store campaign, or guarantee that the product is compatible with your region. Check the exact model and regional terms before purchasing. In particular, the Japan listing discussed above is explicitly for a Japan-only console.
