The Nintendo Switch 2’s US system MSRP is $499.99, effective September 1, 2026. Nintendo announced that price in May; its earlier US launch MSRP was $449.99. Nintendo has not confirmed another future price change, so claims about what the console might cost next are speculation—not an announced plan.
How much does the Nintendo Switch 2 cost?
Prices depend on the country, currency, and product configuration. Nintendo announced these specific prices and dates:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |

| Europe, system | €499.99 | September 1, 2026 |
| Japan, Japanese-language system choose-your-game bundle | ¥63,980 | Launches November 12, 2026 |
The Japanese bundle is a separate offer, not a further change to the standard system price. These figures are announced prices for the named markets and configurations; they are not a complete country-by-country price list or a statement of current retailer offers. Nintendo’s US launch announcement set the original US prices, while its May 2026 price revision notice announced revised pricing for the US, Japan, and Europe. The Japan-only bundle was announced October 6, 2026.
Is the Switch 2 price going up again?
Nintendo’s announced US increase—from $449.99 to $499.99—was $50, or about 11.1% of the previous MSRP. The revised price took effect September 1, 2026. The official announcements available here do not establish another future increase or decrease. A prediction about a later price change should therefore be treated as speculation unless Nintendo announces it.

Why did Nintendo raise the price?
Nintendo said the revision reflected changes in market conditions and consideration of its global business outlook, and that the effects of those changes were expected to continue over the medium to long term. That is the company’s stated rationale for the revision.
In its fiscal-year 2026 results briefing, Nintendo also said its forecast factored in approximately ¥100 billion due to rising component prices, particularly memory chips, and the impact of tariffs. This is broader forecast context, not a separate claim that Nintendo identified those factors as the sole reason for the specific MSRP change. See Nintendo’s results briefing.

Should you buy a Switch 2 now or wait?
Buy based on the current price if you want to play now
Use Nintendo’s announced MSRP as a reference point, then check the current price and availability at retailers in your country. An MSRP is not a guarantee that a retailer is selling at that price, and the official announcements do not establish live stock, discounts, or Amazon offers.
Wait only if you are comfortable with the uncertainty
No official announcement reviewed here confirms a future price reduction or another increase. Waiting could mean a later deal, but it could also mean paying the same price; there is not enough confirmed information to treat either outcome as certain. If you compare the system with a bundle, account for what is included and whether you would buy that item separately rather than assuming the bundle is automatically the better value.

Check the right market and configuration
Compare prices in the currency and market where you intend to buy. A Japanese-language system or Japan-only bundle is not interchangeable with a US or European MSRP, and the announced regional prices do not establish the price in every other country. For an actual purchase, verify the local Nintendo store and retailer listing at the time you buy.
