Nintendo Switch Online’s NES library added seven games in July 2024: Urban Champion, Golf, Donkey Kong Jr. Math, Mach Rider, The Mystery of Atlantis, SOLAR JETMAN and COBRA TRIANGLE. They are included with a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership, rather than being unconditionally free. The North American update arrived July 4, 2024; regional libraries may differ.
Which NES games were added in July 2024?
The North American update added these seven titles to the NES classic-games library:
- Urban Champion — a bare-knuckle fighting game with environmental hazards, playable against the computer or a friend.
- Golf — a classic golf game. The contemporaneous coverage gives conflicting original-release years, so a year is not stated here.
- Donkey Kong Jr. Math — a math-focused puzzle and action game where players collect numbers and operation symbols to solve problems.
- Mach Rider — a 1985 racing and vehicular-combat game with solo, fighting and endurance courses.
- The Mystery of Atlantis — a side-scrolling adventure known in Japan as Atlantis no Nazo, featuring 100 zones and warp doors.
- SOLAR JETMAN — a multidirectional shooter involving gravity-based alien worlds and a ship-towing objective.
- COBRA TRIANGLE — boat-racing and vehicle action across 25 stages, with combat and rescue challenges.
Nintendo Life reported the North American release on July 4, 2024. Nintendo’s Australia/New Zealand July magazine also listed the same seven games as newly available, but that does not establish that every region received the same lineup on the same day. Nintendo Life’s July 4 report and Nintendo Australia’s July magazine document the announcement and list.
Are the games free?
They are included at no additional charge in the NES library for active Nintendo Switch Online members; access requires a paid membership. Nintendo Support says members can play the classic games as often as they like while their subscription is active, and says there are no plans to sell the classics individually outside Nintendo Switch Online. See Nintendo Classics – Nintendo Switch Online Overview & FAQ for the access terms.

Does the lineup vary by region?
Yes. Nintendo Life reported that Japan received different Famicom titles in place of The Mystery of Atlantis, SOLAR JETMAN and COBRA TRIANGLE. The July 4 date applies to the North American release described in that report; check the NES library in your region for its available titles. Nintendo of America’s July 2024 game update announcement described the games as available to members starting that day.
