Nintendo Switch Prices in the US: What Changed in 2025 and What They Cost Now

The August 2025 US increase affected original Switch consoles and selected Switch 2 accessories—not Switch 2 hardware. Here are current console prices and the later Switch 2 MSRP change.

The US price increase for original Nintendo Switch consoles and selected Switch 2 accessories took effect on August 3, 2025. It did not include Switch 2 hardware at the time. Since then, Nintendo has set the standard Switch 2 system’s US MSRP at $499.99, effective September 1, 2026. Nintendo’s current US listings put the Switch at $339.99, the OLED Model at $399.99, and the Lite at $229.99.

What changed in the August 2025 US price increase?

Nintendo’s August 2025 adjustment covered the original Switch family and selected Switch 2 accessories. Contemporaneous reporting said it took effect August 3, 2025, and did not include Switch 2 hardware in that increase. Thurrott reported the announcement on August 1, 2025.

The timing matters: this was a 2025 change, not a new October 2026 increase. Nintendo’s current prices for the original Switch models are useful for shopping now, but they should not be read as a complete before-and-after price list for the 2025 adjustment.

How much do Nintendo Switch consoles cost now?

Nintendo’s US product page currently lists these prices. Retailer prices and availability may differ. See Nintendo’s US Switch listings.

When comparing offers, match the model first, then compare Nintendo’s listed price with the retailer’s actual price. The three figures above are current listings, not a reconstruction of each model’s pre-increase and post-increase price in August 2025.

Did Switch 2 get more expensive?

Not as part of the August 2025 adjustment: Switch 2 hardware was reported as excluded then. Nintendo later announced that the standard Switch 2 system’s US MSRP would be $499.99 starting September 1, 2026. That later hardware price change is separate from the 2025 increase. Which Switch 2 accessories increased in price?

Nintendo announced adjustments to selected Switch 2 accessory prices on April 18, 2025, before the August change to original Switch consoles. The company said the accessory adjustments were “due to changes in market conditions.” Its April announcement listed the Joy-Con 2 Pair at $94.99 before those later adjustments, alongside initial prices for other accessories. That $94.99 figure is historical, not a confirmed current price. Read Nintendo’s April 18, 2025 announcement.

A complete, reliable set of current prices for every affected accessory is not established here, so check the specific item’s current Nintendo listing and confirm Switch 2 compatibility before buying. Nintendo’s announcement did not identify a more specific reason than market conditions; tariffs should not be presented as Nintendo’s stated rationale. Nintendo also wrote: “Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions.”

How to compare prices before buying

  • Check whether the item is an original Switch console, a Switch 2 system, or a Switch 2 accessory; the 2025 adjustment did not apply to all three categories in the same way.
  • Use the model-specific current Nintendo listing as a reference, then compare it with the retailer’s live price and stock.
  • Check the date attached to any quoted price. In particular, do not treat the April 2025 Joy-Con 2 Pair price as a post-adjustment price.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
