No Law is being built around a clear ambition: let players read a dangerous city, exploit its systems and choose how to handle the people in their way. Neon Giant has invoked the kind of reactivity associated with Arkane games, but that is a design goal—not evidence that the unfinished game already delivers the same experience.
What is No Law?
No Law is an in-development first-person game from Neon Giant, the studio behind The Ascent, and is associated with KRAFTON. Its setting is Port Desire, a fictional city presented as a violent place shaped by criminal activity and competing interests. The official site introduces the game and its setting at No Law’s official website.
Players take the role of Grey Harker, described in reveal-era coverage as a former military veteran. The game is framed as a single-player experience; that description and Harker’s background were reported in a PC Gamer interview.
What does “outsmart the game” mean?
Neon Giant’s stated aim is to make Port Desire feel dense and responsive, with first-person combat, urban spaces and NPCs that react to what the player does. In practical terms, the promise is that a player might assess a situation and decide whether to move quietly, use the environment or confront enemies directly, rather than treating every encounter as a fixed shootout. Xbox Wire’s reveal coverage describes the studio’s focus on combat, city density and reactive characters.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That is the basis for the Arkane comparison: a stated interest in player-led problem solving and systems that respond to action. It should not be read as confirmation that No Law has the same mission structure, interaction depth or quality as any released Arkane game. Those are qualities to judge from the finished game, not from an ambition announced during development.
How dangerous and reactive is Port Desire?
Port Desire is described in a Game Informer preview as a city without government regulation, a condition the preview connects to criminal activity and advantages for corporations and neighboring nations. That is the game’s fictional premise, as characterized by the preview and developers—not a claim about a real city.

One specific consequence has been reported: GamesRadar+ says developers described NPCs as capable of dying permanently, with the loss of a character potentially removing a service from the player. That suggests choices may have costs beyond an individual fight, but it is a reported feature of a game still in development and could change before release. Read the GamesRadar+ report for that account.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What remains unproven
The available descriptions establish what Neon Giant wants the game to do, not how consistently it succeeds. Whether stealth, environmental interaction and combat offer meaningfully different routes—and how far those choices reshape missions or the wider city—will require evidence from the completed game. For now, “Arkane-style reactivity” is a useful shorthand for the ambition, not a verdict on the result.
