The studio did not publish a total. For a dated Steam-only benchmark, SteamCharts recorded an average of 45,883.75 concurrent players and a monthly peak of 110,429 in September 2025—neither figure represents all platforms or unique players.
What was the No Man’s Sky player count at its peak?
There is no official numerical total in Hello Games’ record announcement. The studio wrote that “No Man’s Sky has just recorded its highest player counts since its launch nine years ago off the back of the Voyagers update.” That statement confirms a record according to the developer, but does not specify a number, platform breakdown, or counting method.
For Steam, the independent tracker SteamCharts lists September 2025 at 45,883.75 average concurrent players, with a monthly peak of 110,429 concurrent players. The average and peak describe different measures within that month: the first is average simultaneous activity, while the second is the highest concurrent count SteamCharts recorded for the month.
What do the player-count figures measure?
- Average concurrent players: the average number playing at the same time during a stated period, here September 2025 on Steam.
- Monthly peak: the highest concurrent Steam count recorded during that month, here September 2025.
- Daily peak: the highest concurrent count for a particular day. It is not a day-long average.
- Unique players, owners, or downloads: different measures. The concurrency figures above do not tell you how many distinct people played over the month or how many copies were sold.
SteamCharts also lists an all-time Steam concurrency peak of 212,321. That is a historical Steam record, not the September 2025 monthly peak, and it should not be treated as a figure for all platforms.

Is the player count still elevated?
Later Steam-only figures show that activity varied after the 2025 surge. SteamPlayerStats lists a daily peak of 55,726 on September 13, 2026, and 17,307 on October 7, 2026. These are dated daily peaks from a third-party tracker, not a current live count or evidence that record-level activity continued throughout 2026. Tracker values can change with the observation time, reporting window, or later data updates.
For a live figure, check a tracker at the time you read this and verify whether it shows current concurrent players, a daily peak, or another metric. A number without its date, platform, and measurement window can be misleading.

Does the Steam count include console and VR players?
No. SteamCharts and SteamPlayerStats measure Steam activity. They do not provide a combined concurrent total for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and other supported platforms. The official Steam listing describes cross-platform multiplayer and lists PC, console, and VR platforms, but does not publish player counts for each one.
Consequently, the Steam figures should not be multiplied or presented as an estimate of the all-platform audience. The available official record statement is qualitative; the cited numeric measures are third-party Steam counts.

Why did No Man’s Sky’s player count rise?
Hello Games tied its September 2025 record announcement to the Voyagers update. The Steam listing identifies Voyagers (6.0) among the game’s major updates and says it introduced customizable spacecraft. That supports the timing and the studio’s stated association, but it does not establish that one particular feature alone caused the increase.

For example, Hello Games’ statement that the game reached its highest player counts since launch is an official qualitative claim. SteamCharts’ 110,429 figure is a third-party September 2025 monthly peak on Steam. They are related evidence of a surge, but they are not the same measurement.
