Hello Games’ February 13, 2025, update 5.56 fixed four reported gameplay issues, including bugs that could block or disrupt Expedition Seventeen: Titan. Its PlayStation crash fix was specifically for the PS4 version of No Man’s Sky running on PS5—not a general fix for crashes in the native PS5 version.
What update 5.56 fixed
Hello Games’ official 5.56 notes list four gameplay fixes and one crash fix. The Titan-related issues covered reward state, technology deployment, expedition progression and mission detection.
| Issue type | What the notes say was fixed |
|---|---|
| Reward state | A Pillar of Titan reward could appear already claimed after a player returned to the main save from completing the Titan Expedition. |
| Technology deployment | Packaged technology could not be deployed into the Colossus. |
| Expedition progression | Building the floating Nautilon Chamber variant could prevent Titan Expedition missions from progressing. |
| Mission detection | Titan Expedition missions could fail to detect waterworlds correctly. |
| Crash | A crash affecting players running the PS4 version of No Man’s Sky on PS5. |
What the PlayStation crash fix means
The patch note identifies a particular configuration: the PlayStation 4 edition being played on PlayStation 5. It does not say that the native PS5 edition had the same issue, or that update 5.56 resolved every kind of crash on PS5. Hello Games did not publish crash-rate measurements or post-update outcome data alongside the note.
When 5.56 arrived and on which platforms
Hello Games announced 5.56 on February 13, 2025, saying it was live on Steam and would come to other platforms as soon as possible. The company’s release log lists 5.56 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox Game Pass. These statements refer to different points in the rollout; they do not mean every platform received the patch simultaneously.

Did 5.56 fix the “new quest not starting” issue?
Not according to the listed 5.56 notes. A player phrased a community bug report as “Does this patch fix the new quest not starting?” in a weekly bug-report discussion, but that question does not establish that the reported quest issue was among the fixes in 5.56. The official notes identify the four gameplay fixes in the table above.
5.56 was one step in the Worlds Part II patch rollout
Expedition Seventeen: Titan invited players to explore planets introduced in the Worlds Part II update. The official release log also records later Worlds Part II patches, including 5.57 and 5.58, so 5.56 is a dated historical update rather than an indication of the game’s current version. The next-day 5.57 notes listed additional Titan Expedition fixes, including milestone and rendezvous issues.
