No Man’s Sky Rose 49 Places in Steam Deck Charts in July 2024

A July 2024 report said No Man’s Sky rose 49 places into Steam Deck’s top 20. The chart change was historical, and its link to Worlds Part I was not proven causal.

No Man’s Sky climbed 49 places into the top 20 of Steam Deck’s most-played games for the week covered by a July 19, 2024, PC Guide report. The report called it the biggest mover in the Steam Deck top 100 and linked the rise to Hello Games’ Worlds Part I update, but it did not establish that the update caused the chart movement.

What the 49-place jump referred to

PC Guide reported that No Man’s Sky rose 49 places in that week’s Steam Deck top 100, entering the top 20 and becoming the chart’s biggest mover. The report was last updated July 19, 2024, so these figures describe a historical weekly ranking—not the game’s current position.

PC Guide linked to Steam Charts, but the reviewed sources do not provide Valve’s underlying chart data or explain the ranking methodology. The 49-place change and top-20 placement should therefore be understood as figures reported by PC Guide, rather than independently verified Valve statistics.

How Worlds Part I fits into the story

Hello Games announced Worlds Part I, update 5.0, on July 17, 2024. The developer described it as the game’s largest update of that year to that point, bringing new technology, flora, fauna, and gameplay. The announcement came two days before PC Guide’s last update to its chart story.

Valve Steam Deck OLED 1TB Handheld Gaming Console
  • 1TB NVMe SSD
  • 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass, 7.4" Diagonal display size up to 90Hz refresh rate
  • Wi-Fi 6E
  • 50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)
  • Carrying case with removable liner

That timing gives the update useful context, but it does not prove that Worlds Part I caused more people to play or drove the ranking change. The available report connects the events without establishing a causal link.

What players said about Steam Deck performance

PC Guide cited an anecdotal comment from an unnamed Reddit user, who said the game looked better after the update, performed slightly better in some scenes, and was mostly equal elsewhere. That is one player’s impression, not a controlled performance test or a representative measure of player sentiment. The headline’s suggestion that “players are loving it” is not backed by a quantified survey in the cited report.

Does No Man’s Sky work on Steam Deck now?

Steam’s current listing marks No Man’s Sky as Steam Deck Verified. That is the clearest current compatibility signal in the available sources, though a Verified label does not guarantee identical performance in every configuration. Steam describes the game as exploration and survival in a procedurally generated universe and lists Steam Deck among the platforms supporting cross-play and cross-save. See No Man’s Sky on Steam.
