Noob Saibot joined Mortal Kombat 1 as a playable fighter when the Khaos Reigns expansion launched on September 24, 2024. The expansion continues the game’s New Era story and adds Noob alongside Cyrax and Sektor. It is downloadable content, not a standalone game: on Steam, the base game is required.
Who is Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns?
Noob Saibot is a returning playable character in Mortal Kombat 1. Warner Bros. Games announced him as one of three fighters available with the expansion’s launch, alongside reimagined versions of Cyrax and Sektor. The official materials establish his return and playable status, but do not provide enough detail to support a fuller account of his origin or specific story arc in this expansion.

What is the Khaos Reigns story about?
Khaos Reigns continues the New Era narrative in an expanded Story mode. Warner Bros. Games’ official Noob Saibot gameplay trailer describes a threat from Titan Havik, who aims to plunge the realms into chaos. Liu Kang rallies his champions and puts trust in enemies as he responds. That premise frames the expansion’s conflict; it does not by itself establish Noob’s motives or the details of his personal arc.
How do you get Noob Saibot in MK1?
Noob Saibot was included among the three playable fighters available at the expansion’s September 24, 2024 launch. The official launch announcement presented those fighters as part of Kombat Pack 2, included with Khaos Reigns. The sources do not establish a separate Noob Saibot purchase option, so check the current platform store listing for the contents of the edition you are considering.
#1 Best Overall
- Arcade-Favorite Games: 3 Mortal Kombat arcade titles ship on this cabinet, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II among them, so the ladder, the hidden fighters and the finishing moves live on the countertop
- Real-Feel Joystick and Buttons: Full-size arcade controls sit under your hand the way the original cabinets did, which is the point of buying an arcade machine instead of playing arcade games on a phone
- 7" Full-Color LCD: A 7 inch full-colour screen keeps the sprites sharp and the frame rate smooth, and the viewing angle suits a table top or a bar top where you stand over it rather than sit
- Portable with a Built-In Handle: A top-mounted carry handle and a countertop footprint mean it moves between a desk, a shelf and a game room unaided, far smaller than full size arcade machines
- Multiple Power Options: Run it on 4 AA batteries, not included, or plug in a Micro-USB cable, and it arrives fully assembled with nothing to build, among the easier gifts for a retro gaming household
What comes with the Khaos Reigns expansion?
The expansion includes a cinematic Story mode chapter and Kombat Pack 2, which contains six playable characters. Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor were available immediately at launch. Owners also received one-week early access to the guest fighters Ghostface, T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian; their release dates were to be announced later.
Nintendo’s launch announcement also described new modes, skins and costumes, attacks, and gameplay adjustments arriving with the paid expansion. Exact availability and packaging can depend on platform and edition, so use the relevant storefront listing for the current contents.

Do I need Mortal Kombat 1 to play Khaos Reigns?
Yes. Khaos Reigns expands the main game rather than running as a standalone title. Steam explicitly states that the base game is required to play its expansion. If you do not already own Mortal Kombat 1, make sure your purchase includes the base game as well as the add-on.
