ntunisdkbase.dll is a third-party game component associated with NetEase’s UniSDK, not a Windows system DLL. The safest fix is to repair or verify the game that installed it, rather than downloading the DLL or copying it into System32.
What this file actually does
NtUniSdkBase.dll is used by games that include NetEase’s UniSDK or Game SDK services. Public game files show it bundled with titles including NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, Sword of Justice, and Once Human.
Its location depends on the game:
- In some games, it is beside the game executable in the installation folder.
- In Unity-based games, it may be under a path similar to
*_DataPluginsx86_64. - It should normally remain inside the game’s own directory.
- It should not normally be placed in
C:WindowsSystem32orC:WindowsSysWOW64.
There is no single universal ntunisdkbase.dll that fits every game. Different games and builds can ship different file versions, sizes, architectures, and companion SDK files. A DLL from another game may be incompatible even if the filename is identical.
Common messages include:
- “The program can’t start because ntunisdkbase.dll is missing from your computer.”
- “The code execution cannot proceed because ntunisdkbase.dll was not found.”
- “There was a problem starting ntunisdkbase.dll.”
- “Error loading ntunisdkbase.dll.”
- “ntunisdkbase.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
The named file may also appear in Event Viewer after a crash. That does not automatically prove the DLL is damaged. It may be the module where the game, an SDK interaction, a driver, an overlay, or another dependency failed.

|---|---|---|
| The error appeared after a game update | Incomplete or corrupted game files | Verify or repair the game |
| The file disappeared after an antivirus alert | Quarantine or removal | Check Protection History |
| The file exists but the game still will not start | Missing dependency, wrong architecture, or a related damaged file | Verify the complete installation and prerequisites |
| “Not designed to run on Windows” | Invalid, truncated, wrong-version, or tampered file | Reacquire it from the game launcher |

Fix 1: Verify or repair the affected game
This is the highest-probability fix because the DLL belongs to the game installation.
Steam games
- Restart Steam and Windows.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click the affected game.
- Select Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for Steam to reacquire missing or damaged files.
- Start the game again from Steam.
Steam may leave user settings and configuration files untouched during verification. That is normal. The process is intended to replace damaged or missing installation files.
If verification reports that files were reacquired but the same error remains, restart Windows and verify the game one more time. Then check antivirus quarantine before reinstalling.
Other launchers
Open the game’s official launcher and look for a control named Repair, Scan, Verify, or Check files. Run that process while the launcher is closed to other copies of the game.
If the game has a separate launcher and executable, start it from the official launcher rather than a shortcut created before the update. If the launcher offers an administrator option, right-click it, select Run as administrator, and repeat the repair.
A successful repair normally does one of three things:
- The game starts without the DLL message.
- The launcher downloads the missing DLL and related SDK files.
- The same crash changes or disappears after the next launch.
If the launcher cannot repair the installation, continue with the antivirus check before uninstalling anything.

Fix 2: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove or quarantine a game DLL during an update. Steam specifically identifies antivirus quarantine as a possible reason for missing game files.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review recent entries for the affected game folder or
NtUniSdkBase.dll. - If an entry matches the official game installation, note its path and detection name.
- Do not restore or allow it until you have confirmed that the file came from the official launcher and the computer has been scanned.
Microsoft explains the risks of allowing detected files in its Protection History guidance. If you restore a quarantined file, run a full scan and then use the game launcher’s verification function so the launcher can supply the correct copy.
Do not download a replacement DLL from a random DLL repository. That can provide malware, the wrong architecture, an unrelated build, or a file that still leaves the game’s other SDK components missing. The safe source is the affected game’s official launcher or official store installation.
If Windows Security repeatedly removes the same file, do not keep restoring it blindly. Update Windows Security, run a full scan, and contact the game developer through its official support channel with the detection name and game path.
Fix 3: Reinstall the game from its official source
Use this step when verification fails, the installation is badly damaged, or the launcher cannot reacquire the file.
Before uninstalling, confirm that saved games are synchronized or backed up. Some games store saves in a user profile rather than the installation directory, but you should check the game’s own documentation before deleting any remaining folders.
- Close the game and its launcher.
- Uninstall the game through Steam or its official launcher.
- Restart Windows.
- Check whether the launcher offers a separate Repair or cleanup option.
- Reinstall the game from the same official store or launcher.
- Start the launcher as administrator if the installation repeatedly fails.
- Verify the files after installation completes.
If a clean reinstall changes nothing, install the game in a different library or folder if practical. Also check:

Do not copy ntunisdkbase.dll from another computer or another NetEase game. A similarly named file is not necessarily interchangeable.
Fix 4: Restore required Microsoft runtimes
A “DLL not found” message can sometimes mean that Windows found the named DLL but could not load one of its dependencies. The game’s bundled prerequisites should be your first choice.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Look inside the game folder for directories named Redist, Prerequisites, Support, or similar. Run the included installers, then restart Windows and test the game.
If the launcher still fails, install the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages from the official Microsoft download page. Match the game’s architecture:
- Install x86 for a 32-bit game.
- Install x64 for a 64-bit game.
- On 64-bit Windows, both packages may be needed for different games.
Do not assume that the newest x64 package replaces every older x86 runtime. The DLL itself is not a Microsoft runtime file, and there is no evidence that installing Visual C++ is the usual direct fix for every ntunisdkbase.dll error.
Fix 5: Check Windows optional features only when the game requires them
Do not enable random Windows features to fix this file. Use this check only when the game’s official requirements specifically mention a legacy component.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Press Windows key + R.
- Type
optionalfeatures.exe. - Press Enter.
- Review the listed Windows Features.
- Enable only the component named in the game’s requirements.
- Select OK and restart Windows if prompted.
This can help with a missing Windows prerequisite, but it will not normally restore a private game DLL. If the game does not identify a required optional feature, return to game verification and dependency repair instead.

Fix 6: Update graphics and system drivers when the problem is a crash
If the game starts and then closes, or Event Viewer lists NtUniSdkBase.dll as the faulting module, investigate drivers and overlays after repairing the game.
To check drivers:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Properties and review the Driver tab.
- Use Update Driver only if Windows or the hardware vendor provides a suitable update.
- Restart Windows and test the game.
Also check the official graphics-card software for a driver update. Disable overlays temporarily, including game overlays, recording overlays, hardware-monitoring tools, and injected performance utilities.
Manually hunting through Device Manager can leave several drivers outdated while you guess which one matters. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for driver problems and show what needs attention; installing drivers through its full version is optional, and repairing the game remains the definitive fix when the DLL belongs to that game.
A faulting-module report naming NtUniSdkBase.dll is a useful clue, not a diagnosis. The crash can originate in the game, the SDK, a dependency, an overlay, or a driver.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components with DISM and SFC
Use Windows repair tools when multiple unrelated programs fail, Windows components are damaged, or the problem began after broader system corruption. They will not normally restore a game’s private ntunisdkbase.dll.
- Open Start.
- Search for Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Verify or repair the game again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC in its System File Checker instructions.
If SFC reports that it repaired files, test Windows and then repair the game. If both tools report no integrity violations, stop repeating them and return to the game launcher, antivirus history, dependencies, or crash investigation.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →When you are repeatedly hunting corrupted Windows components without knowing what changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan and show issues; its full version performs the repair, but it is not required, and reinstalling the affected game remains the definitive fix for this game-owned DLL.
Why regsvr32 is not the answer
Do not run:
regsvr32 ntunisdkbase.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by certain COM or ActiveX components. ntunisdkbase.dll is a game-runtime or plugin DLL, not a documented COM server. Registering it normally will not repair a missing or damaged game installation.

Likewise, do not place the file in System32 or SysWOW64. That can create version conflicts while leaving the game without the copy it expects in its own directory.
FAQ
Is ntunisdkbase.dll part of Windows?
No evidence supports that. Available game manifests place it inside installations for NetEase-associated games. It should not normally be treated as a Windows system file.
Which games use it?
Public files show it bundled with NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, Sword of Justice, and Once Human. The exact list can change as games and builds change.
Should I download the DLL separately?
No. The correct copy is game-specific and may need companion SDK files. Use the game’s official launcher, Steam verification, or an official reinstall.
Why does the error remain when the file is present?
The named DLL may have a missing dependency, the wrong architecture, an incompatible version, or another damaged game file. A crash may also identify it as the faulting module without the file itself being corrupt.
Does Visual C++ always fix it?
No. It helps only when a required runtime dependency is missing. Install the architecture required by the game and let the official installer or game prerequisites determine what is needed.
What if a clean reinstall still fails?
Check Protection History, controlled-folder access, overlays, injected tools, permissions, and the game’s support channels. Provide the exact error, the game build, Event Viewer details, and the launcher’s repair result. Do not keep replacing the DLL manually.
