Yes—Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced received native DLSS 4 support in an update released on August 12, 2025. The important distinction is that GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards get DLSS Multi Frame Generation, while RTX 40-series cards get conventional DLSS Frame Generation. Both generations can use DLSS Super Resolution, but neither the feature set nor NVIDIA’s performance claims apply to the Legacy PC version.
NVIDIA reported average gains of 3.9× at 4K and 3.1× at 1440p and 1080p under demanding ray-traced, maximum-quality settings. Those are NVIDIA’s controlled manufacturer benchmarks—not independent results or a guarantee for every PC.

What the GTAV Enhanced update adds
The update expands the PC version’s existing upscaling and latency features with two different forms of AI frame generation:
- RTX 50 series: DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, and native DLSS Multi Frame Generation.
- RTX 40 series: DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Frame Generation, but not native Multi Frame Generation in the 2025 GTAV update.
NVIDIA announced the update on August 12, 2025. Enhanced already supported DLSS Super Resolution and NVIDIA Reflex, as well as ray-traced ambient occlusion, global illumination, shadows, and reflections.

What each DLSS feature does
DLSS Super Resolution renders the game internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs a higher-resolution output. It can improve performance without generating additional frames.
DLSS Frame Generation inserts one AI-generated frame between traditionally rendered frames. It is available in GTAV Enhanced on RTX 40-series and RTX 50-series GPUs.
DLSS Multi Frame Generation creates multiple AI-generated frames for each traditionally rendered frame. Native support in this GTAV update is for RTX 50-series GPUs and uses features of NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture.

How much performance does DLSS 4 add?
NVIDIA claimed the following average increases for RTX 50-series systems using DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation:
- 4K: 3.9× the frame rate with ray tracing and maximum settings.
- 2560×1440 and 1920×1080: 3.1× the frame rate.
- Peak result: Some configurations reached the game’s reported 500-fps cap.
These numbers should be treated as a reference for NVIDIA’s test configurations, not as universal GTAV benchmarks. Results vary with the exact RTX model, CPU, resolution, ray-tracing settings, VRAM, memory, thermals, and whether the game is GPU- or CPU-limited.
Multi Frame Generation increases the number of displayed frames, but generated frames do not contain the same new game-state information as traditionally rendered frames. Responsiveness therefore depends heavily on the underlying frame rate. A system rendering at a low native frame rate can still feel delayed even if its displayed output number is much higher.

Enhanced is required—not Legacy
The DLSS 4 announcement applies to Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC. Installing a new NVIDIA driver does not convert the Legacy build into Enhanced or give Legacy the same native feature set.
Existing PC owners of Legacy were eligible for a free upgrade to Enhanced, subject to the relevant Rockstar account, ownership, and platform conditions. Enhanced also includes features such as Hao’s Special Works content, GTA Online Career Progress, and GTA+ access. Check the applicable platform and Rockstar account details before buying the game again.
How to enable DLSS and Frame Generation
Menu labels can change between game builds and driver versions, so treat the following as the practical route rather than a promise of identical wording:

- Install or update GTAV Enhanced.
- Install a current NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready driver.
- Launch the Enhanced PC version.
- Open Settings → Graphics.
- Set the super-resolution or upscaling option to NVIDIA DLSS.
- Enable Frame Generation if the option is available.
- On an RTX 50-series card, select or confirm the Multi Frame Generation option if the current build exposes it.
- Enable NVIDIA Reflex where available.
- Restart the game if prompted.
Verify the result with an in-game performance display or overlay. Selecting a menu option alone does not confirm that the feature is producing the expected frame rate or frame pacing.
Using the NVIDIA app
NVIDIA also provides driver-level DLSS overrides for supported games:
- Open the NVIDIA app.
- Go to Graphics.
- Open Program Settings and select the game.
- Open Driver Settings.
- Choose the relevant DLSS override, if the title and configuration are supported.
Available override categories can include Multi Frame Generation, the Frame Generation model, the Transformer model, and DLAA or Ultra Performance modes. A Multi Frame Generation override requires Frame Generation to be enabled in-game and is intended for supported titles that do not have native Multi Frame Generation integration. It should not be assumed to be a substitute for GTAV Enhanced’s native update.
NVIDIA’s RTX games and applications list changes over time, so check it for the current GTAV Enhanced support classification.
Image quality, latency, and possible problems
Frame generation is not a free replacement for rendering more native frames. Depending on the scene and settings, players may notice:

- Artifacts affecting HUD elements or text
- Uneven frame pacing
- Increased perceived latency when the underlying frame rate is too low
- Limited gains when the CPU, VRAM, or another system component is the bottleneck
NVIDIA says its newer Transformer-based DLSS models improve temporal stability, reduce ghosting, and preserve detail during motion. Those are platform-level NVIDIA claims, not proof that every GTAV scene is artifact-free.
For the lowest-latency setup, try DLSS Super Resolution without Frame Generation first, enable Reflex, and reduce the settings causing the bottleneck—particularly demanding ray-traced effects where appropriate. DLAA can be preferable when performance headroom is available because it targets image quality rather than performance. AMD FSR is the documented alternative for non-NVIDIA hardware.

Not directly. NVIDIA’s later app and driver materials discuss DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and newer model overrides. Those developments should not be confused with the native GTAV Enhanced update announced in August 2025.

Should you buy an RTX 50-series GPU for GTAV Enhanced?
GTAV Enhanced alone is not a strong reason to buy a new RTX 50-series card. The update is most compelling for an existing RTX 50 owner using ray tracing, a high resolution, and a high-refresh monitor. RTX 40 owners also benefit from Frame Generation without upgrading.
An RTX 50-series purchase makes more sense when it is part of a broader upgrade plan involving several demanding games, 4K or high-refresh gaming, and a preference for smoother generated output over strictly native-frame responsiveness. Before buying, determine whether your current system is GPU-limited. If the CPU is limiting GTAV, a faster graphics card and DLSS Multi Frame Generation may add less than expected.
Likewise, a 500-fps result matters little on a 60Hz or 75Hz display. A high-refresh monitor can make generated frames more visible, but it is not automatically a worthwhile purchase if the game is CPU-limited or the rest of the system cannot sustain the target refresh rate. Consult NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series page, the RTX 40-series page, and the G-SYNC monitor information for product details rather than choosing hardware based on GTAV’s headline multiplier alone.

DLSS 4 is genuinely available in Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. RTX 50-series GPUs receive native Multi Frame Generation, while RTX 40-series GPUs receive conventional Frame Generation. NVIDIA’s claimed 3.9× 4K and 3.1× 1440p/1080p gains demonstrate the potential of the feature under specific test conditions, but they are not a guarantee of four-times-faster gameplay or four-times-lower latency.
Use the Enhanced build, enable DLSS and Reflex, and judge the result with your own frame-time and responsiveness experience. For most players, this is a valuable feature update—not a reason by itself to replace an otherwise adequate graphics card.
