GeForce NOW Free lets you stream supported games at no membership cost, but includes ads before sessions and longer queues. The paid Performance and Ultimate plans offer faster access and higher performance ceilings; both currently include 100 hours of monthly premium play, with up to 15 unused hours rolling over. Ultimate targets players who can use its higher-end cloud hardware and features, while Performance is the lower-cost paid option. Actual prices, availability and performance depend on your region and setup.

GeForce NOW Free vs. paid at a glance

Feature Free Performance Ultimate
Price Free $9.99/month or $99.99/year on NVIDIA’s US marketplace listing reviewed October 8, 2026 $19.99/month or $199.99/year on NVIDIA’s US marketplace listing reviewed October 8, 2026
Ads and queue Ads before gaming sessions and longer queues Faster access than Free Shortest waits and fastest access among the listed plans
Cloud hardware and advertised streaming ceiling Basic rigs; performance varies by game and server availability Up to 1440p at 60 FPS RTX 5080 virtual rigs on first access; up to 5K at 120 FPS, or 360 FPS in 1080p competitive mode
Monthly premium play Free-plan terms and session limits apply; the cited sources do not state a comparable monthly allowance 100 hours; up to 15 unused hours can roll over 100 hours; up to 15 unused hours can roll over
Session length After a session ends, you may rejoin a queue, subject to plan terms Longer sessions than Free Longest sessions
Notable features No Install-to-Play Ray tracing in supported games, Install-to-Play, saved graphics settings and selected mods Performance features plus Ultimate-specific RTX 50-Series features, DLSS 5 on NVIDIA’s current US page, and up to 90 FPS Steam Deck support via the native client

The prices are US listings, not worldwide rates. NVIDIA’s FAQ reviewed October 8, 2026 is an en-GB page; plan names, features, offers and availability can differ by region and change over time. The resolution and frame-rate figures are advertised maximums, not guarantees: NVIDIA says actual results depend on the device, network, game, membership, GPU and available capacity. NVIDIA membership page, NVIDIA Membership Terms, NVIDIA FAQ, and NVIDIA US marketplace (reviewed October 8, 2026).

What changes when you move from Free to paid?

Queues and advertising

Free is ad-supported and has longer queues. NVIDIA’s Membership Terms say: “Members with a free membership can expect to experience advertising before gaming sessions and a longer queue for access.” NVIDIA does not establish an exact ad duration or frequency in the cited material. Performance and Ultimate provide faster access, with Ultimate listed as the fastest option.

Monthly playtime and session length

Performance and Ultimate each include 100 hours of monthly premium play under NVIDIA’s FAQ reviewed in 2026. Up to 15 unused hours can roll over. That allowance matters if you play often: a paid membership does not mean unlimited premium play. Free also has session limits, but the cited FAQ does not give a directly comparable monthly allowance for it. NVIDIA’s FAQ describes longer sessions on paid plans, with Ultimate offering the longest sessions.

Cloud performance and features

Performance is the entry paid tier, advertised for up to 1440p at 60 FPS. It adds features including ray tracing in supported games and Install-to-Play. Ultimate is aimed at higher-end streaming: NVIDIA lists RTX 5080 virtual rigs on first access and ceilings of up to 5K at 120 FPS or 360 FPS in 1080p competitive mode. The current US membership page also lists DLSS 5 for Ultimate. These capabilities are relevant only when the game, device, display, network and available server capacity support them.

  • Consider Ultimate if your priority is the highest advertised performance, RTX 5080 cloud rig access or Ultimate-specific features—and your screen, device, network and games can make use of them.

These are choices based on NVIDIA’s published plan specifications, not independent testing. For the US prices listed on October 8, 2026, Performance costs $9.99 monthly or $99.99 yearly, while Ultimate costs $19.99 monthly or $199.99 yearly. GeForce NOW streams games you can access; it does not unlock every game

GeForce NOW connects to supported game stores and streams games you own or can otherwise access. It is not a subscription that gives you a library of every PC game. NVIDIA lists Steam, Epic, GOG, PC Game Pass and Ubisoft Connect as examples of supported stores; check that a specific title is supported and available through an account or store you can use.

Install-to-Play is a paid feature for eligible Steam titles that have opted in. It lets premium members install those games into cloud storage. Paid plans include 100 GB of single-session storage; persistent storage is an optional paid add-on. Install-to-Play eligibility is not the same as general game availability. NVIDIA GeForce NOW service page, NVIDIA FAQ, and NVIDIA how-to guide.

Check your connection and local plan details

NVIDIA recommends at least 25 Mbps for Full HD at 60 FPS and recommends wired Ethernet or a 5 GHz wireless router. Higher resolution and frame-rate modes have higher bandwidth recommendations. These are connection recommendations, not a promise of a particular stream quality; network and device conditions affect actual performance. NVIDIA FAQ and NVIDIA Membership Terms.

Before paying, check the current membership page for your region, confirm the games you want are supported, and make sure your device and network suit the tier’s advertised capabilities. NVIDIA says plan offers may vary by region and membership plans may change.
