NVIDIA’s announced U.S. launch prices were $299 for the GeForce RTX 5060, $379 for the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti, and $429 for the 16GB RTX 5060 Ti. The RTX 5060 Ti launched on April 16, 2025, while the RTX 5060 became available on May 19, 2025. Those figures are launch starting prices—not guarantees of what every retailer or board partner charges in 2026.

The most important detail is that the $379 RTX 5060 Ti is the 8GB version. The 16GB model costs $50 more at launch and is generally the more flexible choice for demanding games, 1440p, mods, and longer ownership.

RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti launch prices

NVIDIA announced the desktop GeForce RTX 5060 family in April 2025. Its U.S. launch pricing was:

GPU Memory Launch starting price Announced availability
GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 $299 May 19, 2025
GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GDDR7 $379 April 16, 2025
GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GDDR7 $429 April 16, 2025

These are NVIDIA’s U.S. launch starting prices before sales tax, shipping, retailer markups, factory-overclock premiums, and differences between add-in-board designs. NVIDIA lists partner cards from manufacturers including ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, and Zotac, among others. A card advertised as “starting at” a particular price may be unavailable while more expensive models remain in stock. See NVIDIA’s official RTX 5060 family page for product and buying-option information.

  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
  • Powered by GeForce RTX 5060
  • Integrated with 8GB GDDR7 128bit memory interface
  • PCIe 5.0
  • WINDFORCE cooling system

What the RTX 5060 family offers

Both GPUs use NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture and support GDDR7 memory, fourth-generation ray-tracing cores, fifth-generation Tensor cores, DLSS 4, neural-rendering features, and NVIDIA Reflex.

Specification RTX 5060 RTX 5060 Ti
CUDA cores 3,840 4,608
Listed boost clock 2.50GHz 2.57GHz
Memory 8GB GDDR7 8GB or 16GB GDDR7
Memory interface 128-bit 128-bit
Architecture Blackwell Blackwell

The Ti has more CUDA cores and a slightly higher reference boost clock, but its biggest practical distinction is the 16GB option. The RTX 5060 is available only with 8GB.

What “starts at $299” really means

NVIDIA’s headline price is a launch MSRP or starting price, not a promise that every RTX 5060 will sell for $299. Board partners can charge more for larger coolers, compact designs, factory overclocks, RGB lighting, different power delivery, or simply limited supply.

The same applies to the RTX 5060 Ti. “RTX 5060 Ti at $379” specifically means an 8GB model at its launch starting price. The 16GB version started at $429. When comparing listings, identify the exact memory capacity, board-partner model, retailer, stock status, and date.

RTX 5060 versus RTX 5060 Ti

At their original prices, the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB cost $80 more than the RTX 5060, while the 16GB Ti cost $130 more. The Ti’s additional GPU resources make it the faster card, but the value of the upgrade depends on the games and applications involved.

Independent testing generally found the RTX 5060 ahead of the RTX 4060, with performance gains varying by game and settings. Ars Technica reported roughly 10%–25% higher performance at 1080p and 20%–40% at 1440p in its tested configurations. Those are review-suite ranges, not guarantees for every game or driver version. See Ars Technica’s review for the test context.

NVIDIA promoted substantially larger gains in selected games when DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation was enabled, including a claim of up to twice the performance of the RTX 4060. That claim is tied to supported games and AI-generated frames; it should not be treated as equivalent to a conventional native-rendering benchmark.

Is 8GB of VRAM enough?

Eight gigabytes remains usable for many 1080p games, especially when texture quality, ray tracing, and other settings are chosen sensibly. It is not automatically an unusable capacity in 2026.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

However, 8GB provides less headroom for:

  • 1440p gaming;
  • high-resolution texture packs;
  • ray tracing;
  • heavily modded games;
  • newer titles with large streamed assets;
  • video production, 3D work, local AI, and GPU compute.

When a workload exceeds available VRAM, the problem may appear as texture pop-in, asset streaming, stutter, or poor frame pacing rather than only a lower average frame rate. Testing has also produced mixed results: some selected 1080p workloads show little difference between the 8GB and 16GB RTX 5060 Ti, while demanding cases show meaningful advantages for the 16GB model. The correct answer depends on the game, resolution, settings, drivers, and ownership horizon.

That makes the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB difficult to recommend when its price approaches a 16GB competitor. The 16GB Ti is not twice as fast, but its larger framebuffer can prevent memory-related limits that raw GPU performance would otherwise handle.

DLSS 4 and generated-frame performance

DLSS features should be considered separately:

  • DLSS Super Resolution renders internally at a lower resolution and uses AI reconstruction to produce the output image.
  • Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation create additional displayed frames using AI.
  • Ray Reconstruction improves the reconstruction of ray-traced effects in supported games.
  • NVIDIA Reflex helps reduce system latency in supported titles.

Frame generation can make the displayed frame rate much higher, but generated frames do not replace the underlying rendered frames. A game still needs adequate base performance and responsive input latency. When comparing reviews, look for native or standard-upscaling results alongside DLSS and frame-generation results.

RTX 5060 gaming performance and resolution targets

The RTX 5060 is primarily a 1080p graphics card. It can handle 1440p with adjusted settings and upscaling, but 8GB of VRAM can become a constraint in demanding games.

The RTX 5060 Ti 8GB is a faster 1080p option and an entry-level 1440p card, although its memory capacity weakens its long-term flexibility. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is the most adaptable version for high-quality 1080p, entry-level 1440p, demanding textures, and longer ownership.

Tom’s Hardware’s 2026 GPU hierarchy listed the RTX 5060 at approximately 64 frames per second at 1080p and 41.2 fps at 1440p in its aggregate test suite. Those figures describe that specific collection of games and test conditions; they are not a prediction for every title.

RTX 5060 Ti versus Radeon RX 9060 XT

AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB is the most important alternative. Independent launch coverage placed its 16GB model around $350, below the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB’s $429 launch price, while finding it competitive in conventional rasterized gaming.

NVIDIA retains important advantages for buyers who value DLSS, ray tracing performance in supported games, CUDA-dependent software, NVIDIA Studio, or NVIDIA’s encoding and creator ecosystem. The Radeon’s main advantages are its 16GB capacity and potential rasterized-gaming value.

Choose based on the workload rather than a blanket “better” label:

  • Choose the RTX 5060 or 5060 Ti if DLSS, ray tracing, CUDA, NVIDIA Studio, or NVIDIA’s software ecosystem is important.
  • Consider the RX 9060 XT 16GB if raster performance and VRAM-per-dollar matter most and your applications do not depend on NVIDIA-exclusive features.
  • Compare actual prices because the value gap changes with retailer stock and promotions.

See TechSpot’s RX 9060 XT review and Tom’s Hardware’s GPU hierarchy for comparative test data.

What RTX 5060 prices looked like in August 2026

Retail pricing is time-sensitive and depends on the measurement method. Price snapshots published around August 14, 2026, illustrate the difference:

  • PC Gamer listed an RTX 5060 at $359 in a selected price/deal context.
  • Tom’s Hardware reported a $469.99 median for RTX 5060 listings, compared with the $299.99 launch MSRP.

These numbers do not contradict each other: a selected low-price deal and a median of listings measure different things. Neither should be treated as a permanent market price. Prices can also differ by retailer, model, region, taxes, shipping, and stock status. The U.S. launch figures do not directly apply to Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, or other markets.

Before buying, check the exact model and confirm whether the listing is new, in stock, sold directly by the retailer, and priced before or after tax and shipping. Also check the card’s length, thickness, connector placement, and power requirements against your case and power supply.

Which RTX 5060 should you buy?

  • RTX 5060: The price-first choice for 1080p gaming, particularly if a card is genuinely available near $299 and you want DLSS or NVIDIA’s software ecosystem.
  • RTX 5060 Ti 8GB: Consider it only when meaningfully cheaper than the 16GB version and competing 16GB cards, or when you mainly play esports and lighter 1080p games.
  • RTX 5060 Ti 16GB: The strongest NVIDIA choice for longer ownership, demanding textures, mods, entry-level 1440p, video work, and GPU workloads—provided it is close to its $429 launch price.
  • RX 9060 XT 16GB: The alternative to investigate when rasterized gaming and memory capacity matter more than CUDA, DLSS, or NVIDIA’s ray-tracing ecosystem.

Skip or reconsider the purchase if an 8GB RTX 5060 Ti is priced close to a 16GB card, if an RTX 5060 is far above its launch value without a specific feature advantage, or if a higher-performance GPU is available for only a small additional cost.
