NVIDIA moved the GeForce RTX 4060’s announced launch from July 2023 to June 29, 2023. The company’s June 22 announcement confirmed the earlier sale date and a U.S. starting price of $299, but did not explain why the schedule changed.
What changed in the RTX 4060 launch schedule?
NVIDIA’s May 18, 2023 announcement said the GeForce RTX 4060 would be available in July. On June 22, NVIDIA set the sale date for June 29—bringing the announced availability forward. NVIDIA’s June 22 launch post and its May 18 announcement establish the change. PCWorld also reported the revised date in its headline, “Nvidia’s $299 GeForce RTX 4060 is launching June 29, not in July” (PCWorld).
Why did NVIDIA move the date forward?
NVIDIA did not state a reason in the announcements reviewed. The available statements do not establish whether inventory, competition, demand, or another factor prompted the change, so none should be presented as the explanation.
What price and availability did NVIDIA announce?
NVIDIA announced a starting price of $299 in 2023. This was the U.S. launch starting price, not a current retail price. The company directed buyers to its regional Product Finder at 6 a.m. Pacific on June 29 for launch-day availability. That instruction describes the launch-day plan; it does not establish current stock, present pricing, or a complete region-by-region schedule.
#1 Best Overall
- Dual Fan: Two fans and a huge heatsink ensure a cool and quiet experience for you.
- TORX FAN 4.0: A masterpiece of teamwork, fan blades work in pairs to create unprecedented levels of focused air pressure.
- Reinforcing Backplate: The reinforcing backplate features a flow-through design that provides additional ventilation.
- Zero Frozr: The fans completely stop when temperatures are relatively low, eliminating all noise.
What did NVIDIA say about the target audience?
NVIDIA positioned the RTX 4060 as a card for mainstream PC gamers. Its June 22 post cited the May 2023 Steam Hardware Survey, saying 9 of the 10 most-used GPUs were 60-class or lower and 77% of Steam gamers played at 1080p or lower. Those are historical figures reported by NVIDIA from that survey, not current statistics.
The May announcement also quoted Matt Wuebbling, NVIDIA’s vice president of global GeForce marketing, describing the RTX 4060 family as offering “great value and great performance at 1080p.” This is NVIDIA’s marketing characterization, not a performance assessment established by the launch-date announcements.

NVIDIA’s June 22 post included a promotional comment attributed to Tomasz Szałkowski of Techland: “Unleash the GeForce RTX 4060 in Dying Light 2 Stay Human and high frame rates at max settings is no sweat”. The launch announcements do not provide independent testing to validate that claim.
