The NVIDIA RTX 4080 did not permanently come with Diablo IV. In May 2023, NVIDIA and Blizzard ran two separate, limited promotions: a purchase bundle that supplied Diablo IV Standard Edition with selected RTX 40-series products, and a free-to-enter giveaway with only three custom RTX 4080 prizes. The giveaway ended on May 12, 2023, the purchase bundle ended on June 13, 2023, and NVIDIA’s campaign page now marks the bundle as unavailable.
There were two different promotions
The headline combined two offers that had different rules and outcomes. The original coverage described the three-winner giveaway while also discussing the game bundled with some GeForce RTX 40-series purchases, which made it easy to read “RTX 4080 comes with Diablo IV” as a general product feature. It was not.
| Promotion | What participants received | Dates and eligibility |
|---|---|---|
| RTX 4080 giveaway | A chance to win one of three custom Diablo IV-themed RTX 4080 cards; no purchase required | May 12, 2023, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Pacific; legal residents of the 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., subject to age and other exclusions |
| RTX 40-series purchase bundle | Diablo IV Standard Edition for Battle.net plus listed cosmetic items with an eligible product | Eligible RTX 4090, 4080, 4070 Ti or 4070 graphics cards or desktops from participating retailers; ended June 13, 2023 |
The giveaway rules are published by Blizzard at the official promotion rules. NVIDIA’s campaign page says the purchase promotion is no longer available. The contemporary headline and its ambiguity are documented by Tech Times.
The custom RTX 4080 giveaway
It was a chance to win, not a free graphics card for every entrant
Three winners each received one NVIDIA GPU, with an approximate retail value of $1,389 per prize and a total stated prize value of $4,167. Entry itself required no purchase or payment, but almost everyone who entered would receive nothing.

Historical entry procedure
- Use a public Twitter/X account in good standing.
- Find the promotional post from the official @Diablo account.
- Reply to that post as directed and include #DiabloRTX.
- Submit no more than one entry per person, account, email address or household.
- Keep the account public so the sponsor could contact a selected entrant by direct message.
- If selected, provide a valid U.S. mailing address that was not a P.O. box.
The only entry window was May 12, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Email entries and other submission methods were invalid. A private account, a late reply, a missing or incorrect hashtag, a reply away from the official post, multiple entries, an ineligible location or age, or an account judged automated or fraudulent could disqualify an entrant.
Who could enter
- Legal residents of the 50 United States and Washington, D.C.
- Generally age 18 or older; Alabama and Nebraska residents had to be at least 19, and Mississippi residents at least 21.
- Residents of Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories were excluded.
- Employees of the sponsors, affiliates, agencies and vendors, plus their immediate families and household members, were excluded.
The official rules also required compliance with applicable federal and local law.
What the cards looked like
Secondary coverage and promotional imagery showed three Diablo IV-inspired designs with class-themed backplates associated with the Barbarian, Sorcerer and Necromancer, attached to an NVIDIA Founders Edition-style RTX 4080 cooler. The official rules confirm the NVIDIA GPU prizes; the class-specific backplate descriptions come from promotional coverage, including Wccftech’s report, rather than the rules themselves.
What the RTX 40-series purchase bundle included
The separate retail offer supplied a Battle.net copy of Diablo IV Standard Edition with selected GeForce RTX 4090, RTX 4080, RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 graphics cards or desktop PCs bought through participating retailers and system builders. It was not attached to every RTX 4080 listing or every country.

How redemption worked at the time
- Buy an eligible product from a participating retailer or system builder.
- Receive a promotional code or redemption instructions from the seller; NVIDIA said instructions would be emailed after purchase.
- Follow NVIDIA’s redemption process and sign in to, or create, a Battle.net account.
- Redeem the code so the game is added to that Battle.net account.
Those are historical steps, not a working method today. The offer ended June 13, 2023, and the current NVIDIA campaign page identifies it as unavailable. NVIDIA’s original announcement is at the GeForce news page.
Why buying an RTX 4080 today does not include Diablo IV
As of August 16, 2026, neither promotion can be entered or claimed. A current RTX 4080 purchase therefore does not automatically include Diablo IV. An old retailer listing may mention the bundle, but a code could be expired, already redeemed, unavailable in your region or tied to a different Battle.net region. Do not pay a premium for an assumed game code, especially when buying a used card.
If a seller advertises an “unused” code, ask for proof that it is valid for your country and has not been redeemed. Treat the hardware and code as separate purchases unless the seller provides verifiable current terms.
RTX 4080 specifications and buying checks
NVIDIA’s reference RTX 4080 specification lists 9,728 CUDA cores, 16 GB of GDDR6X memory on a 256-bit interface, a 2.51 GHz boost clock, 320 W total graphics power and a recommended 750 W system power supply. The Founders Edition reference card measures approximately 304 × 137 mm and occupies three slots. It uses one 16-pin power connection, with either three PCIe 8-pin cables through the supplied adapter or a suitable 450 W-or-greater PCIe Gen 5 cable. Confirm the exact requirements for an add-in-board model, which may be larger or require different power. See NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 family page.

- Verify that the power supply is adequate and that the required cables are available.
- Check warranty, condition and return terms for refurbished or used cards.
- Do not treat the original $1,199 launch MSRP as a current retail price.
The RTX 4080 SUPER is a different model. NVIDIA lists 10,240 CUDA cores for the SUPER versus 9,728 for the RTX 4080, while both have 16 GB of GDDR6X memory. The expired promotion should not be assumed to have covered the SUPER automatically.
RTX features and Diablo IV performance claims
NVIDIA promoted DLSS 3 and Reflex support for Diablo IV and said ray tracing support was planned for a later post-launch update. NVIDIA’s published performance figures are vendor claims, not independent testing; conditions and settings should be checked before using them to compare cards. The relevant announcement is on NVIDIA’s GeForce news site.

If you want Diablo IV
Buy the game through an official Blizzard or Battle.net channel at the Diablo IV site, or use a legitimate current sale or subscription whose terms explicitly include the game. The 2023 bundle’s Standard Edition code is not a substitute for a current retail entitlement, expansions or future editions.
If you want an NVIDIA GPU
Compare the RTX 4080 with the RTX 4080 SUPER, currently available GeForce generations, and AMD alternatives based on price, rasterized performance, ray tracing, VRAM and software features. NVIDIA’s GeForce comparison page is a useful specification reference, but it does not establish a live Diablo IV promotion. Before buying, check NVIDIA’s current promotion hub and the retailer’s exact product and regional terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still enter the RTX 4080 Diablo IV giveaway?
No. The giveaway accepted entries only on May 12, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time, and had three winners.
Did every RTX 4080 include Diablo IV?
No. The game was part of an expired bundle for selected RTX 40-series products from participating retailers, not a permanent RTX 4080 benefit.
Was the purchase bundle available worldwide?
Not universally. Participating retailers, eligible products and regional terms determined availability; the separate giveaway was limited to eligible U.S. residents.
Does an RTX 4080 SUPER automatically qualify for the old bundle?
No. The historical promotion’s product list should not be extended to the SUPER, and the campaign has ended in any case.
The Bottom Line
The 2023 headline referred to a short-lived purchase bundle and a separate three-winner giveaway—not a permanent free Diablo IV offer with every RTX 4080. Both promotions are expired, so choose a graphics card and buy Diablo IV based on current prices, hardware requirements and active terms.
