How Connections works

Connections presents sixteen words to sort into four groups of four based on a shared connection. The groups are color-coded by difficulty. In the play description accompanying this historic answer guide, players select four words and submit a guess; the guide says players may make up to four mistakes. It also describes one puzzle per day, resetting at midnight local time. General game information is available on Wikipedia’s overview of The New York Times Connections.
