Why the trickiest tiles fit
TRIANGLE belongs with the instruments
Here, TRIANGLE means the percussion instrument, not the geometric shape. BELL, DRUM, and RATTLE complete the group. The other tiles can make that reading less obvious: SINE and terms such as PRO and AB may look technical or mathematical at first glance.
SQUARE can mean settling a debt
CLEAR, PAY, SETTLE, and SQUARE can all describe satisfying an obligation. In this use, to square an account is to settle it.
The Caesar tiles are words, not a sentence in puzzle order
The blue group is I, CAME, SAW, CONQUERED—the words of the familiar English rendering “I came, I saw, I conquered.” The four tiles form the group; the puzzle does not require them to appear as a complete sentence in that order.
AB, PRO, SINE, and SUB are Latin prepositions
The purple category is specifically Latin prepositions, rather than English abbreviations.
