All four Connections groups
| Color | Category | Answers | Why they fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yellow | PRINTED NOTIFICATION | ANNOUNCEMENT, BULLETIN, NOTICE, POSTER | Each can be a written or printed communication meant to inform. |
| Green | SEEN AT A GROCERY CHECKOUT COUNTER | CONVEYOR BELT, REGISTER, SCALE, SCANNER | Groceries travel on the belt; a register records and charges the purchase; a scale weighs goods; and a scanner reads barcodes. |
| Blue | THINGS WITH TABS | BROWSER, FOLDER, KEYBOARD, SODA CAN | A browser has tabs, a folder can have a tab, a keyboard has a Tab key, and a soda can has a pull tab. |
| Purple | PALM ___ | BEACH, READER, SUNDAY, TREE | They complete the phrases Palm Beach, palm reader, Palm Sunday, and palm tree. |
How to spot the tricky connections
Start with the shared setting
The grocery-checkout group is a useful first match: conveyor belt, register, scale, and scanner belong to one everyday scene. Once those words are removed, the remaining items are easier to test for less literal links.
Check for words with multiple meanings
The blue group turns on the different meanings of “tab”: a browser tab, a folder tab, the Tab key, and a can’s pull tab. In British English, a can’s pull tab is often called a ring pull, but it is still the same feature in this wordplay.
#1 Best Overall
Try a phrase completion
For the purple group, place PALM before each word. Palm Beach, palm reader, Palm Sunday, and palm tree are all familiar phrases.

Connections is a New York Times word game in which players sort 16 words into four groups based on a shared connection. TechRadar’s guide says the daily game is available through NYT Games on desktop or mobile and that a new game appears at midnight in each time zone. That timing can make an April 3 puzzle appear alongside an April 2 publication date.
