How the four groups connect
Yellow: move to the music
BOP, BOUNCE, GROOVE and SWAY can each describe a way to move along with music.
#1 Best Overall
Green: inhalation
DRAG, DRAW, PUFF and PULL can all refer to drawing smoke into the mouth or lungs. The overlap is easy to miss because each word has other common meanings.
Blue: martini specifications
DRY, GIN, SHAKEN and TWIST are associated with martinis: a martini can be dry or gin-based, shaken, or served with a twist.
Rank #2
Purple: words that precede “word”
Add WORD after each answer to make BUZZWORD, CROSSWORD, LOANWORD and PASSWORD. These familiar compounds form the last group.

Solution #770 is the July 20, 2025 puzzle, not the Connections game from July 20, 2024. That earlier date corresponds to game #405, as Parade’s archive shows. TechRadar describes Connections as a New York Times word game playable through NYT Games on desktop or mobile; access and availability terms can change.
Rank #3
The colors indicate difficulty tiers, from yellow as the easiest to purple as the hardest. That makes the purple compound-word pattern a useful final check if the four obvious sets are already accounted for.
