For the Saturday, November 2, 2024 edition of NYT Connections, puzzle #510, the four reported categories are kitchen items, groups of advisors, core exercises, and kinds of earrings. The full word groupings are below; spoilers follow.
NYT Connections answers for November 2, 2024
Third-party answer guides report these four groups for puzzle #510:
- Seen in a kitchen: COUNTER, FRIDGE, RANGE, SINK
- Group of advisors: BOARD, CABINET, COUNCIL, PANEL
- Core exercises: BOAT, CRUNCH, MOUNTAIN CLIMBER, PLANK
- Kinds of earrings: CHANDELIER, DROP, HOOP, STUD
The guides identify this as the November 2, 2024 puzzle, not a Connections game from November 2 in another year. One answer guide and a second guide report the same date, game number, and categories.
Why CABINET is the key decoy
CABINET looks like it belongs with COUNTER, FRIDGE, RANGE, and SINK because it can mean kitchen furniture. In this grid, however, it belongs with BOARD, COUNCIL, and PANEL: all four can refer to a group of advisors. Once CABINET is placed there, the remaining kitchen set is COUNTER, FRIDGE, RANGE, and SINK. A third-party explanation notes this overlap.

Two less-obvious category clues
BOAT is an exercise
BOAT is grouped with CRUNCH, MOUNTAIN CLIMBER, and PLANK as a core exercise or pose. It is less immediately recognizable in that category than CRUNCH or PLANK.
CHANDELIER is an earring style
CHANDELIER belongs with DROP, HOOP, and STUD as a kind of earring—not as a household fixture.
