Hints for Connections #830
Try these nudges in order; each points toward a category without naming all four tiles.
- Yellow: An enthusiastic “yes.”
- Green: Verbs for supplying something or getting it set.
- Blue: Think of organizations with starry emblems.
- Purple: Say the tiles aloud; they echo names from Genesis.

The complete tile bank is NASA, READY, WILLING, ABLE, NOAA, OUTFIT, N.F.L., GAME, DOWN, CANE, PREPARE, PARAMOUNT, EAVE, SUBARU, EAGER, and EQUIP. The four groups are:
| Color | Category | Words | Why they fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yellow | INTO IT | DOWN, EAGER, GAME, WILLING | Each expresses enthusiasm or willingness to proceed. |
| Green | FURNISH | EQUIP, OUTFIT, PREPARE, READY | Each can mean to supply, outfit, prepare, or make ready. |
| Blue | ORGS WITH STARS IN THEIR LOGOS | N.F.L., NASA, PARAMOUNT, SUBARU | Their emblems feature stars or a star cluster. |
| Purple | HOMOPHONES OF GENESIS FIGURES | ABLE, CANE, EAVE, NOAA | Spoken aloud, these echo Abel, Cain, Eve, and Noah. |
Why the grid is tricky
The puzzle uses apparent overlap to misdirect. READY, WILLING, and ABLE can look like the start of a group about readiness, but READY belongs with EQUIP, OUTFIT, and PREPARE in FURNISH. ABLE is instead part of the sound-based purple group: ABLE echoes Abel, CANE echoes Cain, EAVE echoes Eve, and NOAA echoes Noah.

The blue set also asks you to connect organizations rather than treat the tiles as ordinary vocabulary: N.F.L., NASA, PARAMOUNT, and SUBARU all point to logos featuring stars.
How NYT Connections works
Connections presents 16 words and asks players to sort them into four groups of four based on a shared theme. The groups are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, through green and blue to purple, the trickiest. The New York Times says each puzzle has one solution, while its words may appear to fit more than one category. NYT Help Center: Connections
