Hints for Connections #905

  1. Yellow: These words can mean approximate, broad, or not exact.
  2. Green: These are mild swear words or euphemistic oaths.
  3. Blue: These names can refer to Major League Baseball players or teams’ player nicknames.
  4. Purple: These family-member nicknames become the answers when one letter is added.

December 2, 2025 Connections answers

Ready for the full reveal? These are the four categories and their answers for game #905, as reported by TechRadar’s puzzle guide and independently identified by Forbes.

Yellow: APPROXIMATE

BALLPARK, BROAD, GENERAL, ROUGH

Each word can describe an estimate or something that is not narrowly defined. A ballpark figure is an approximation, while a broad, general, or rough description lacks exact detail.

Green: MILD OATHS

FRICK, FUDGE, SHOOT, SUGAR

These are softened exclamations used in place of stronger profanity. “Frick,” “fudge,” and “shoot” are familiar euphemisms; “sugar” can serve the same purpose as a mild expression of surprise or frustration.

Blue: MLB PLAYER

ANGEL, MET, RAY, ROYAL

These are singular forms associated with Major League Baseball team names and can be used as labels for players on those clubs: an Angel, a Met, a Ray, or a Royal. The intended connection is the baseball team-name word, rather than a particular player’s personal name.

Purple: FAMILY MEMBER NICKNAME PLUS A LETTER

BROW, DADA, MOMA, SISI

Each answer begins with a family-member term or nickname and adds one letter:

  • BRO + W = BROW
  • DAD + A = DADA
  • MOM + A = MOMA
  • SIS + I = SISI

The red herrings in today’s grid

The hardest part of this puzzle is separating plausible associations from the intended ones. MOMA and MET can immediately suggest New York museums or cultural institutions. They do not belong together here: MET is part of the MLB group, while MOMA is the purple answer created from MOM plus one letter.

BALLPARK is another deliberate trap. It strongly suggests baseball, but it belongs with BROAD, GENERAL, and ROUGH in the approximate-terms group. Once BALLPARK is removed, the baseball set becomes ANGEL, MET, RAY, and ROYAL.
