NYT Connections puzzle #906, published Wednesday, December 3, 2025, groups 16 words into four themes: jewelry, social gatherings, petitioning, and 1970s “___ Man” songs. Start with the progressive hints below if you want to solve it yourself; the full groups and answer key follow.
Hints for Connections #906
Use these clues in order, stopping whenever you have enough to solve a group.
- One group consists of things someone might wear as jewelry.
- Another group names occasions that bring people together.
- A third group describes ways to petition for something or push for a desired outcome.
- The last group completes titles of familiar 1970s songs. Think of “old,” “ramblin’,” “magic,” “blue collar,” “mechanical,” and “all-American.”
One-word anchors
If you need a more direct nudge, the words CHAIN, RECEPTION, LOBBY, and PIANO each belong to a different group.
What are the Connections categories?
The four categories are Kinds of jewelry, Social gathering, Petition (for), and “___ Man” songs from the ’70s.

LOBBY, PRESS, ROCKET, RECEPTION, CHARM, PIANO, APPEAL, RING, IRON, CHAIN, FUNCTION, CAMPAIGN, PARTY, MACHO, BANGLE, EVENT.
Why the trickier words fit
- PRESS is a verb in “press for” something, alongside appeal, campaign, and lobby; it is not a reference to journalism.
- PARTY belongs with the social-gathering words, even though it can also suggest a political organization.
- IRON is part of a song title here, not a reference to the metal or a household appliance.
- The final four words complete Iron Man, Macho Man, Piano Man, and Rocket Man.
How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words and asks players to sort them into four groups of four based on a shared link. Red herrings can make words appear to fit more than one theme. Forbes’ game guide says a fourth incorrect guess ends the game and describes archive access as available with certain New York Times subscriptions; check the NYT Connections page for current access details. TechRadar reports that a new puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone.
