How Connections works
Connections gives players 16 words to sort into four groups of four. The groups are color-coded by difficulty: yellow is described as easiest and purple as trickiest. The New York Times Help Center says the game’s words and categories are curated by editors using the Oxford Dictionary. The Help Center’s Connections page describes the game as one that challenges players to find themes between words.
To submit a guess, select four words and submit them. Try Hard Guides notes that players may make up to four mistakes and suggests spotting two or three possible matches, then looking for the word that completes the group. The daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone, so “today” in the original puzzle title referred to February 21, 2025; this is a historical answer guide.
