Spoiler warning: The hints below start broad, then reveal the full answers for NYT Connections #262, published Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Stop before the answer section if you want to keep solving.

How to approach Connections #262

Connections asks you to sort a 16-word grid into four groups of four, with a shared link in each group. Similar-looking words can fit more than one possible pattern, so look for a connection that accounts for all four words rather than submitting a tempting partial match. Forbes notes that a wrong guess costs a life and that four mistakes end the round; shuffling the grid can help you spot a new association. Forbes’ February 28 guide describes the game mechanics and its own solving experience.

Hints, from broad to specific

  4. For the remaining group, place “double” before each word.
