How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words and asks players to sort them into four groups of four that share a theme. The category colors run from yellow, the easiest, to purple, the trickiest. Playing or replaying this puzzle
The daily game is available on the NYT Games website and apps, and the daily puzzle appears at midnight in the player’s timezone. The NYT Help Center says Connections is free to play without registration or sign-in. Its archive is available to Games and All Access subscribers and goes back to June 12, 2023. Archive play affects puzzle statistics but not streaks, and completed archived puzzles cannot be replayed.
