How Connections works
Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four that share a theme. The New York Times says yellow is the easiest group and purple the trickiest; some words may appear to fit more than one category. The daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone. See the NYT Connections Help Center.

- EMBLEM: LABEL, MARK, SEAL, STAMP

- U.S. CITIES: BUFFALO, HELENA, IRVING, PHOENIX
- FRUITS WITH THEIR SECOND LETTERS CHANGED: AMPLE, DOTE, LUMON, POACH
Why the fruit group is tricky
Each tile resembles a fruit name with its second letter replaced: AMPLE comes from apple, DOTE from date, LUMON from lemon, and POACH from peach. The altered words are the tiles to submit, not the fruit names.
