For Sunday, July 20, 2025, Connections puzzle #770 groups its words around dancing, inhaling, martini specifications and words ending in “word.” Start with the spoiler-safe clues below, then open the answer key when you’re ready.
Hints for Connections #770
Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared link. The color sequence runs from yellow, the easiest group, to purple, the hardest; players can make up to four mistakes. These clues are arranged from broad prompts to category labels, so stop when you have enough to solve.

- Yellow: Almost dancing.
- Green: Breathe in.
- Blue: Not stirred.

The next-level category labels are MOVE TO THE MUSIC, INHALATION, MARTINI SPECIFICATIONS and ___WORD. TechRadar notes that Connections can use wordplay, including homophones, so consider more than one meaning for each word. TechRadar’s July 19, 2025 clue guide describes the puzzle and its labels.

Why the groups fit
Yellow: MOVE TO THE MUSIC
BOP, BOUNCE, GROOVE and SWAY can all describe ways to move along with music.
Green: INHALATION
DRAG, DRAW, PUFF and PULL can each refer to an intake of smoke or air, depending on context.

Blue: MARTINI SPECIFICATIONS
DRY and GIN describe martini choices or ingredients; SHAKEN describes preparation, while TWIST refers to a garnish.

Purple: ___WORD
Add “word” after each answer to form BUZZWORD, CROSSWORD, LOANWORD and PASSWORD. In TechRadar’s explanation, “loanword” is a word adopted from another language with little or no modification.

This is the Sunday, July 20, 2025 puzzle. TechRadar’s guide is dated July 19 and says a new puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone, which accounts for the different calendar dates shown by publications. The game is available through NYT Games on desktop and mobile, according to TechRadar. Parade’s July 20 answer listing also reports the four groups.
