  1. Look for a set of things that can be added to or used to repair teeth.
  2. Another set describes an intense, disorderly or emotionally turbulent situation.
  3. One set uses the second words in titles associated with a filmmaker known for surreal films.
  4. For the last set, consider different things the word “jet” can mean.

Answers for Connections #750

Spoilers below. The puzzle’s four groups and their words are:

Color Category Words
Yellow Dental additions BRIDGE, CROWN, FILLING, VENEER
Green Metaphors for a dramatic and chaotic event CIRCUS, ROLLER COASTER, SOAP OPERA, WHIRLWIND
Blue Second words in David Lynch titles DRIVE, HIGHWAY, PEAKS, VELVET
Purple What “jet” might refer to AIRPLANE, BLACK, HOT TUB NOZZLE, NFL PLAYER

How the color groups work

Connections gives players 16 words to sort into four groups of four. Yellow is the easiest group and purple the trickiest, with green and blue between them. The New York Times Help Center explains that “Each puzzle has exactly one solution and is meant to be tricky by having words that could fit into multiple categories.” In #750, the “jet” group spans several meanings, while the Lynch group depends on recognizing title endings.
