Spoiler warning: answers for November 29, 2025

The categories and complete word sets follow.

Yellow: ABDOMINAL AREA

CORE, MIDSECTION, TORSO, TRUNK.

Green: REPLACEMENT

BACKUP, COVER, RELIEF, SUBSTITUTE.

Blue: PARK STAPLES

BENCH, PIGEON, STATUE, TREE.

Purple: BLACKJACK TERMS

BUST, HIT, SPLIT, STAND.

Why BENCH is a tempting trap

BENCH can suggest a reserve player or substitute, making it an easy word to place in REPLACEMENT. In this puzzle, it belongs with PIGEON, STATUE, and TREE in PARK STAPLES; RELIEF is the word that completes the replacement group. The blackjack set uses HIT and STAND, terms that may be less familiar to players who know the game as “twist” and “stick.”

How Connections works

Connections asks players to sort sixteen words into four groups of four based on a shared link. The colors indicate differing difficulty levels; TechRadar’s guide describes green as easiest and purple as usually hardest. Players can make up to four mistakes. These difficulty descriptions are the guide’s general framing, not an official rule statement.

The guide says the game is playable through NYT Games on desktop or mobile. TechRadar and a second answer page report the same categories and word sets for #902; neither is an official NYT source.
