Why the groups fit
DESIRE
DRIVE, IMPULSE, ITCH, and URGE are all related to motivation or a strong wish to do something.
#1 Best Overall
BARB
SPINE, SPUR, STICKER, and THORN are pointed or sharp things. SPUR may suggest an impulse as well, but the full set places it with the other pointed items.
INFO ON A RECORD
ALBUM, ARTIST, LABEL, and TRACK are information or elements associated with a music record or album.
Rank #2
TURN THE _____
CORNER, PAGE, TABLES, and TIDE each complete a familiar expression: “turn the corner,” “turn the page,” “turn the tables,” and “turn the tide.” This group depends on phrase completion, unlike the other sets, which rely on related meanings or associations.
How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words to sort into four groups of four. The groups are color-coded from yellow, described as easiest, to purple, described as most challenging. Four incorrect guesses reveal the answers. The January 18, 2025 puzzle’s purple-style phrase-completion set was CORNER, PAGE, TABLES, and TIDE.
Rank #3
Yahoo’s archived guide identifies this as game #587 on January 18, 2025, and Try Hard Guides independently lists the same four categories and word sets: Yahoo’s Connections #587 guide and Try Hard Guides’ Connections answers.
