NYT Connections game #874 was the Saturday, November 1, 2025 puzzle. Start with the 16 tiles and graduated hints below; the full groups and answers are farther down if you want to avoid spoilers. The matching solution appears in dated guides from TechRadar and Forbes.
The 16 tiles in game #874
RAVEN · PINKY · CHIP · JET · INKY · ROCKY · FILE · CLYDE · HARDY · SUE · TELLER · CHARGE · INDICT · ITCHY · PITCH · CHER
Hints for the four groups
Try the broad clues first, then use the extra tile nudges if you need them.
- Legal steps: think of actions taken in a court case.
- The darkest color: these tiles can describe black.
- One half of a human double act: consider the order of names in famous real-life pairs.
- One half of an animation double act: look for the first-named character in cartoon pairs.
For a smaller nudge, one tile from each group is CHARGE, INKY, CHER, and CHIP. Forbes pairs these with the short clues “I object,” “Funeral vibes,” “______ and [word],” and “[word] and ______.”

Answers and category groups
Spoilers below.
| Color | Category | Tiles |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | TAKE TO COURT | CHARGE, FILE, INDICT, SUE |
| Green | BLACK | INKY, JET, PITCH, RAVEN |
| Blue | SECOND IN A FAMOUS REAL-LIFE DUO | CHER, CLYDE, HARDY, TELLER |
| Purple | RODENTS WHO ARE FIRST IN A CARTOON DUO | CHIP, ITCHY, PINKY, ROCKY |
Why the two duo groups are easy to confuse
The blue group consists of the second-named people in Sonny and Cher, Bonnie and Clyde, Laurel and Hardy, and Penn and Teller. The purple group takes the first-named cartoon characters in Chip ’n’ Dale, Itchy & Scratchy, Pinky and the Brain, and Rocky and Bullwinkle. The intended split is therefore both about the type of pair—real-life duo or cartoon duo—and each answer’s position in its pairing.
Some tiles also share associations outside their intended groups: INKY and PINKY are Pac-Man characters, and CLYDE is another. Those links can draw attention away from the first-versus-second-name distinction.
