Green — FURNISH
EQUIP, OUTFIT, PREPARE, READY can mean supplying, equipping, or making something ready. READY is a tempting near-match for WILLING and ABLE, but in this puzzle it belongs here: it describes preparation, rather than enthusiasm.
Blue — ORGS WITH STARS IN THEIR LOGOS
N.F.L., NASA, PARAMOUNT, SUBARU are organizations whose insignias or logos include star imagery.
Rank #2
Purple — HOMOPHONES OF GENESIS FIGURES
ABLE, CANE, EAVE, NOAA sound like Abel, Cain, Eve, and Noah, respectively. The link is pronunciation; the tiles are not spelled the same as the names.
Why the purple set works
Say the four tiles aloud and compare them with the Genesis names: ABLE/Abel, CANE/Cain, EAVE/Eve, and NOAA/Noah. Their spellings differ, but their sounds provide the connection.
