How Connections works
The New York Times Help Center describes the game this way: “Players are given 16 words and must find groups of four items that share something in common.” Each group is assigned a color—Yellow, Green, Blue or Purple—with Yellow described as easiest and Purple as trickiest. The daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone. See the NYT Connections Help Center for current game and archive details.
The Help Center says the archive reaches back to June 12, 2023 and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. Playing archived puzzles affects listed puzzle statistics, but not current or maximum streaks. Subscription eligibility and archive access can change, so check the linked Help Center page for current terms.
