Yellow: Things that are fuzzy

CATERPILLAR, FLEECE, PEACH, PIPE CLEANER

Green: Things with shells

CLAM, EGG, NUT, TURTLE

Blue: Figures in “Shrek”

DONKEY, DRAGON, OGRE, PRINCESS

Purple: Magic ___

CARPET, KINGDOM, MARKER, MUSHROOM

How the word bank fits together

The fuzzy set draws on texture: fleece and a pipe cleaner feel fuzzy, while a peach and a caterpillar can also be described that way. The shell group spans different kinds of coverings, from a clam’s shell and an egg’s casing to a nut’s shell and a turtle’s protective shell. In the film group, Donkey, Dragon, Ogre, and Princess identify figures from Shrek. The final connection completes familiar phrases: magic carpet, magic kingdom, magic marker, and magic mushroom.
