How to think through the groups
- Yellow: Read the four words as singular nicknames associated with teams in the NFL’s AFC West: the Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs and Raiders.
- Green: These are terms tied to the NCAA basketball tournament, from a tournament bracket and a team on the bubble to a Cinderella run and a team’s seed.
- Blue: Each word imitates a sound that can occur in a sports setting: a clank, a crunch, a ping or a vroom.
- Purple: Put “double” before each answer to make familiar phrases: double-A, double bogey, double-double and double fault.
