Hints for October 23
Stop at the hint for your board if you want to keep the rest of the puzzle spoiler-free.
Easy hint
Begin with the region marked “= 5.” It covers three squares, so their values must total five—an average of about 1.7 pips per square. Use that small total to constrain which domino halves can occupy those cells.

Medium hint
Start with the “= 21” region, which covers five squares. Those cells must add up to 21, or about 4.2 pips per square on average.
Hard hint
Look first at the “= 7” region across three squares. Its cells must total seven, averaging about 2.3 pips per square.

Why a domino can cross a region boundary
Pips asks you to fit the available dominoes into the grid while obeying the condition attached to each region. An exact-sum region requires its cells to add to the displayed number; a less-than region must stay below its limit; and an all-different region requires distinct values. A domino may straddle two regions, with each half counted toward the rule for the cell it covers. Keep track of the pips in each cell as you place and rotate dominoes; do not assume both halves belong to the same constraint.
