Hint 3: The spangram

REDALERT

All answers for Strands #33

The theme words are:

  • BURGUNDY
  • CARDINAL
  • CINNAMON
  • STRAWBERRY
  • TOMATO

The spangram is REDALERT. It captures the red theme and stretches between opposite sides of the board.

How the answers fit “Am I blushing?”

Burgundy and cardinal are red shades; cinnamon, strawberry and tomato are familiar red-associated words. Together, they point to the theme clue’s blushing-red idea. REDALERT turns that color connection into a phrase, while serving as the board-spanning spangram.

How Strands hints work

Strands is a themed word search played on a 6-by-8 board of 48 letters. Trace connected letters in any direction, including around bends, to form theme words. The spangram captures the theme and crosses between opposite sides of the grid.

  1. Find three valid words that are not theme answers, each at least four letters long.
  2. After the third qualifying word, the game awards a hint that reveals letters in one theme word.
  3. Use the revealed letters and the theme clue to trace the remaining answers.
