Hints for Strands on August 22, 2026
The theme points to famous U.S. mountain ranges. Try identifying ranges that match these starting letters and word lengths:
- C — 7 letters
- G — 5 letters
- R — 5 letters
- S — 8 letters
- S — 5 letters
- W — 5 letters
The spangram is a 13-letter phrase for a connected line of lofty peaks. It runs from the grid’s left edge to its right edge.
How Strands hints work
Strands is a daily themed word search on a letter grid. Theme words can bend through the grid, and the spangram defines the theme while spanning opposite edges. Finding three words that are not theme answers earns an in-game hint that highlights one theme word. Strands entered beta in March 2024 and is playable in a browser through NYT Games, according to the Strands overview.
