In the board-reading order given by Forbes, the words begin with PH, GU, EL, VI, TH, and SA.
How Strands works
Strands is a word-search-style puzzle on the NYT website and in the NYT Games app. Connect adjacent letters vertically, horizontally, or diagonally; a word can change direction along its path. The board’s letters are used once across the theme words and spangram. The spangram captures the theme connection and links at least two sides of the board. Finding three valid non-theme words of at least four letters earns a hint that highlights a theme word. These gameplay details are described in Forbes’ guide to this puzzle.
