How Strands works

Strands is a themed word-search game: find the theme words in the letter grid, along with a spangram that describes the theme and connects two opposite sides of the board. Words can be formed by dragging or tapping letters, according to Parade’s summary of the New York Times rules. A 2026 academic overview describes valid words as paths through vertically, horizontally, or diagonally adjacent letters, with no cell used twice; it also explains that the spangram links opposite sides of the grid (Dagstuhl Publishing, 2026).
