How the puzzle works
Forbes describes Strands as a word-search-style puzzle played on a six-by-eight letter grid. Find words that fit the theme and a spangram that captures the connection. Letters can connect horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, and each letter is used once. The spangram links at least two sides of the board. According to Forbes’s guide, finding three valid non-theme words of at least four letters unlocks the in-game hint button. These are the rules as described in that guide.
