TechSpot reported on April 17, 2025, that screenshots of a support exchange gave April 21 as the release date and said the game would be available on Game Pass on day one. Xbox’s official announcement confirmed the launch for April 22, 2025, with day-one Game Pass availability. The chat’s authenticity was uncertain, so April 21 was a reported leak—not a confirmed launch date.
What did the reported Xbox Support leak say?
On April 17, 2025, TechSpot reported that screenshots and a video posted by an X user identified as Raven showed an Xbox Support response naming April 21, 2025, as the release date. The response also reportedly said the remaster would be available on Game Pass on day one. TechSpot’s report cautioned that the exchange’s authenticity was questionable. It also noted that another support response, following an inquiry Kotaku attempted to replicate, said the studio had not officially announced the game.
That makes “accidentally leaked” a description of the report, not proof that Xbox officially confirmed the date through support. The reported April 21 date was one day earlier than the launch Xbox later announced.
When did Oblivion Remastered actually come out?
Xbox confirmed the release on April 22, 2025. In its dated launch announcement, Xbox Wire said the game was out that day; the official Xbox game page also lists April 22, 2025, as the release date. The confirmed date—not the earlier support-chat date—is the answer to “When does the Oblivion remaster come out?”

Was it a day-one Game Pass title?
Yes. Xbox’s April 22 launch announcement said Oblivion Remastered was available day one with Game Pass. The announcement listed Xbox Series X|S, PC through Steam and the Xbox app, cloud, and PlayStation 5. This confirms Game Pass availability at launch; it does not establish whether the game is in the service’s current catalog or which current plan, price, or regional terms apply.

Xbox describes the remaster as preserving the original game’s core while giving it a visual treatment using Unreal Engine 5. It also includes the original expansions Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. For Xbox-platform purchases, Xbox says the game supports Xbox Play Anywhere entitlements and cross-saves across Xbox consoles, Windows PC, and cloud. That entitlement information does not mean a PlayStation purchase carries over to Xbox or PC. Read Xbox Wire’s launch announcement for its platform and feature details.
