If OBS is streaming but you cannot find YouTube’s health information, check the active event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. YouTube reports platform-side stream health there; OBS reports its own output and performance in View → Stats. These are different views, and a running loop alone is not established as a cause of missing health information.
First, check the right dashboard
- In YouTube Studio, open the active live event in Live Control Room. Look for Stream health and any accompanying error message. YouTube identifies Live Control Room as the place to check stream health and analytics while streaming: See your live stream’s metrics.
- Confirm it is the event OBS is sending to. Check that the correct event and stream key are in use, then verify that YouTube is receiving the incoming stream. An OBS output that appears active does not, by itself, establish that YouTube is receiving data for the event you have open.
- Check OBS’s local statistics. In OBS, open View → Stats. Note the stream status and whether the network-dropped, rendering-lag, or encoding-lag counters are increasing.
If YouTube has received the stream but its health panel has no useful status, note the exact display and any error text. If it has not received data, troubleshoot the event, key, connection, and OBS output before treating this as a health-panel display issue.
What YouTube’s statuses mean
YouTube’s Live Streaming API separates the stream lifecycle from its health assessment. Its LiveStreams documentation defines the relevant status values:
- Stream status
active: YouTube is receiving data. - Stream status
inactive: YouTube is not receiving data. created, ready, orerror: Other lifecycle or configuration states; they are not interchangeable with a healthy, actively received stream.- Health status
good: No warning-or-worse configuration issues are reported. - Health status
ok: No error-severity issues are reported. - Health status
bad: Error-severity issues exist. - Health status
noData: YouTube’s backend has no health information for the stream. This state alone does not identify why the information is unavailable or show that the loop caused it.
Use the Live Control Room’s displayed status and error instructions for the event you are actually streaming. The API definitions clarify the distinction between receipt and health; they do not diagnose a particular event or loop setup.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Read the OBS Stats counters separately
- Network dropped frames: OBS describes these as a sign that the connection to the remote server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. They point toward the connection between OBS and YouTube’s ingest, not directly to a YouTube health-panel problem. See OBS’s Stream Connection Troubleshooting guide.
- Missed frames due to rendering lag: OBS tracks rendering lag separately from network drops. This is a local rendering category.
- Skipped frames due to encoding lag: OBS tracks encoding lag separately as well. A rising value is not the same symptom as network-dropped frames.
Do not combine all three counters under “dropped frames.” Identify which one changes and when. The right rendering or encoding fix depends on the computer, OBS version, encoder, and output configuration; without those details or an OBS log, a specific setting change would be guesswork.
If network-dropped frames are increasing
OBS’s connection guide recommends checking the ingest connection rather than assuming the loop itself is at fault:

- Try a different streaming server or ingest endpoint if available in your setup.
- Set the bitrate to a level your stable upload connection can sustain. Lowering it may improve stability, but it also reduces stream quality.
- Review OBS network settings and investigate whether the connection is unstable or constrained.
- OBS offers dynamic bitrate, which can reduce bitrate when the connection cannot keep up. It may help maintain a stream, but OBS cautions that it does not fix the underlying connection problem and can reduce quality.
Change one relevant setting at a time, then observe both OBS Stats and the YouTube event. A change that reduces network drops does not automatically explain a missing YouTube health readout; check whether YouTube is receiving data and what its own status says.
If rendering or encoding lag is increasing
These counters describe different local processing stages from network delivery. Record which counter rises, whether it changes during the loop, and the OBS log and output configuration. The general OBS documentation distinguishes these categories but does not establish one universal remedy for an unknown system. Avoid changing encoder or rendering settings based only on an absent YouTube health panel.

If OBS looks clean but viewers report buffering
A clean OBS dropped-frame counter is not proof that every viewer has smooth playback. Viewers’ devices, locations, and internet connections differ, and buffering can occur without OBS reporting dropped frames. OBS explains this distinction in its Stream Buffering Troubleshooting guide. Compare the report with YouTube’s Live Control Room status and analytics rather than using OBS’s local counter as a viewer-wide quality test.
Is the loop causing the missing health information?
The available YouTube and OBS documentation explains where health is displayed and what the status values and performance counters mean, but does not identify loop playback itself as a cause of unavailable health information. The cause for a specific setup remains unresolved until you know which loop method is running, which event is open, whether YouTube receives data, and what OBS and YouTube report.

Details to collect if the issue persists
- The exact YouTube Live Control Room event and its Stream health status or error message.
- Whether YouTube is receiving data, and the stream’s displayed status.
- A screenshot or notes from OBS View → Stats, including which counters increase.
- The loop method, OBS version, output configuration, and OBS log.
- When the symptom began and whether it coincides with a change to the event, connection, or OBS setup.
These details help distinguish a wrong event or missing ingest data from a platform health state, a local OBS performance issue, or viewer-side buffering.
Or let it run in the cloud
