OBS Settings for Looping Hindi Bhajan Videos in a 24/7 YouTube Stream

Loop one bhajan with OBS Media Source or rotate recordings with VLC Video. Use YouTube’s codec-specific bitrate guidance and test the full stream before relying on a long broadcast.

For one Hindi bhajan video, add it to an OBS Media Source and enable Loop. For several recordings played in sequence, use VLC Video and enable Loop Playlist (VLC must be installed). A sensible first configuration to test for mostly static devotional artwork is 1920×1080 at 30 fps, H.264, CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval, and 10 Mbps video bitrate. That is a starting point—not a guarantee that your computer or internet connection can sustain a continuous broadcast.

Choose the right OBS source for your bhajan

One recording: Media Source

In your scene, add a Media Source, select the local video file, and enable Loop. OBS will replay the file when playback completes. Supported local video formats include MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM. See OBS Media Sources.

Do not confuse Loop with Restart playback when source becomes active. Restart playback begins the file again when the source becomes visible; it does not make a finished file repeat.

Several recordings: VLC Video

For an ordered rotation of bhajans, add a VLC Video source, select the files for the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. This route depends on VLC being installed. It is more suitable than repeatedly changing a single Media Source when you want several recordings to play in order. OBS documents the source options at Media Sources.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Build a scene and check the audio

  1. Create or select a scene. In OBS, add the Media Source or VLC Video source to the scene you will stream. Scenes combine video and other sources into the broadcast layout; see OBS Scenes and Sources.
  2. Fit the video to the canvas. Check the preview at the intended output resolution. Make sure the artwork, lyrics, or other visual elements are not cropped or unintentionally stretched.
  3. Check the audio path. Confirm the bhajan is audible in the OBS audio mixer and reaches the stream mix. Avoid capturing the same sound through both the media source and desktop audio unless you intend to duplicate it; duplicated audio can sound louder or echo. Routing depends on your operating system and devices, so verify it on the computer you will use.
  4. Listen for a full loop transition. Play through the end of the file and confirm playback starts again cleanly. Check for a pause, unexpected silence, abrupt cut, or audio that falls out of sync.

Set resolution, frame rate, and encoder output

For mostly static devotional images, 1080p at 30 fps is a practical starting point to test. Higher resolution can make text and artwork look sharper, while higher frame rates and bitrates require more encoding and upload capacity. Since a bhajan stream with static imagery has little motion, 30 fps is a reasonable initial choice; it is not a YouTube requirement.

In OBS, use the video and output settings to choose an output resolution that matches your intended stream. OBS cautions that system capacity matters, particularly at 60 fps. If the computer struggles or the connection cannot sustain the selected bitrate, reduce the output mode rather than assuming that a high-quality preset will work continuously. See OBS Streaming Guide.

Match bitrate and keyframes to YouTube Live

YouTube’s live encoder guidance recommends CBR, a 2-second keyframe frequency (do not exceed 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. For stereo audio, it recommends 44.1 kHz and 128 kbps. Use the video bitrate for the exact codec, resolution, and frame rate—not a figure copied from a different mode. YouTube recommends RTMPS where available. The current settings guidance is at YouTube: Live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

H.264 output mode YouTube recommended video bitrate YouTube minimum video bitrate
720p30 6 Mbps 2 Mbps
720p60 8 Mbps 3 Mbps
1080p30 10 Mbps 5 Mbps
1080p60 17 Mbps 6 Mbps

These are YouTube’s published H.264 live-ingestion recommendations and minimums, not a measurement of what your connection can sustain. The suggested 1080p30 starting setup therefore uses 10 Mbps video. YouTube lists different recommendations for AV1 and H.265/HEVC; do not apply the H.264 table to those codecs. Its 1080p30 recommendation for AV1/H.265 is 10 Mbps, with a 4 Mbps minimum. Encoder and codec availability also depends on your hardware and software.

Allow headroom beyond the selected video bitrate for audio and normal network variation. YouTube advises matching the bitrate to your connection capacity and testing before going live. A connection that only just reaches the target under ideal conditions may not be dependable for a long broadcast. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.

Test before starting a long broadcast

  1. Test the complete scene. Use the planned resolution, frame rate, encoder, bitrate, bhajan audio, and representative motion or transitions. A brief test of a different file or lower output setting does not confirm that the planned stream is stable.
  2. Check YouTube Live Control Room. Review stream health and any warnings before making the broadcast public. YouTube recommends monitoring health and messages during the broadcast; see YouTube: Fix live stream errors.
  3. Watch OBS statistics and audio. Look for dropped frames, encoding overload, silent sections, clipping, or sync drift. OBS identifies dropped frames as a sign of network instability or bitrate beyond connection capacity.
  4. Observe the file’s end and restart. Confirm the loop returns to the beginning as expected and that the audio remains present across the transition.

Neither an OBS configuration nor a successful short test proves that a channel is eligible for livestreaming, that a broadcast will stay connected indefinitely, or that YouTube will retain a full-day replay. Check the current requirements and archive behavior in YouTube Live Control Room before relying on a long broadcast or its replay.

Troubleshoot common OBS bhajan-stream problems

  • The video stops at the end: For a single file, confirm the source is Media Source and its Loop control is enabled. For several files, confirm the VLC Video source has Loop Playlist enabled.
  • The file restarts only when the source appears: Restart playback when source becomes active is not a repeat setting. Enable Loop for the Media Source or Loop Playlist for VLC Video.
  • A playlist source does not work: Install VLC and verify the selected files are available to the computer running OBS. VLC Video depends on that installation.
  • YouTube reports poor stream health or OBS drops frames: Check whether the upload connection can sustain the configured bitrate. Reduce the bitrate or output mode, use a stable wired connection if available, and test again. Dropped frames point to network stability or bitrate capacity, not necessarily a problem in the video file.
  • Encoding overload or stuttering video: Reduce frame rate or output resolution and retest. OBS notes that 60 fps can be demanding; the computer must encode continuously, not just play the video.
  • The stream is silent, doubled, or out of sync: Check the source’s audio and OBS mixer meters, then inspect whether desktop audio is capturing the same sound a second time. Recheck monitoring, levels, and sync on the target computer.
  • Bitrate or keyframe warnings appear: Verify that the encoder uses CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval, and select the bitrate for the precise codec, frame rate, and resolution in YouTube’s table.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is a YouTube channel that keeps looping while your computer is off, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos rather than streaming from a camera.
