The change does not make every appearance option free: the separate Metamorphosis Token for changing gender remains, with its announced price reduced from 880 to 300 Crystgins. The developers also outlined conversions and limited purchase compensation for existing items.
What changes for character customization?
In its September 13, 2026 developer blog, Once Human said that after the September 28, 2026 PT version update, facial-feature and body-shape reshaping would no longer consume items when accessed through the Floor Mirror in a player’s Territory. Hair color changes through the color palette would likewise no longer consume items. This is the announced implementation date; the announcement alone does not confirm that every change has since been verified in the live client.
| Customization option | Announced change |
|---|---|
| Facial features and body shape | Reshape at the Floor Mirror in your Territory without consuming items after the update. |
| Hair color | Change color through the palette without consuming items after the update. |
| Gender | Still uses a Metamorphosis Token; its announced price falls from 880 to 300 Crystgins. |
What happens to Chrysalis Tokens and Butterfly Dye?
The developers said Chrysalis Tokens and Butterfly Dye would be withdrawn from sales channels, but items players had already obtained would not be reclaimed. After the update, using a legacy item would convert it into Colorful Badges at the announced rates:
- Each Chrysalis Token converts to 60 Colorful Badges.
- Each Butterfly Dye converts to 30 Colorful Badges.
The blog describes conversion when the items are used; it does not say they would automatically turn into badges simply by remaining in inventory.

Is changing gender free?
No. The Metamorphosis Token remains the item used to change gender. The developers announced a reduction from 880 Crystgins to 300 Crystgins, explaining that they kept the token because they want players to remain cautious about choosing a character’s gender. This is distinct from facial and body reshaping, which the announcement makes item-free.
How does Radiance fit into the cosmetics changes?
Radiance is a broader account-shared cosmetic progression system introduced in the June 2026 update. The Version 2.4.2 announcement, published June 10, 2026, says obtaining cosmetics grants Radiance value; cosmetics already obtained also count once a player enters the interface. At launch, the system had nine levels, with rewards at each level, as well as namecard and Radiance Shop benefits. It is a progression and rewards system, separate from the September announcement’s changes to reshaping, dye, and token costs.
