If Once Human shows a network error, first check whether your internet connection works elsewhere, then restart the game and check official announcements for maintenance or fixes. The official sources reviewed do not identify a confirmed cause or universal fix for this particular in-game error. NetEase’s connection-stability and VPN advice is specifically for download and installation problems, so those steps should not be treated as a guaranteed remedy for login or gameplay disconnects.
Why does Once Human say “network error”?
The error message alone does not establish what is wrong. NetEase’s July 9, 2024 release FAQ discusses network stability in connection with failed downloads or installations, but does not name a cause for a general in-game network error. The publisher’s September 21, 2026 bug-fix notice provides reporting directions but does not identify a general network-error cause or announce a fix for it.
A local connection problem or a temporary service-side issue are possibilities to check, not confirmed explanations. Steam’s Once Human technical-support page lists broadband internet as a minimum requirement. It does not specify a required speed or network configuration. The available evidence does not establish that a VPN, firewall, DNS setting, router, or server load is responsible for your error.
How do I fix Once Human network error?
1. Check whether the connection works elsewhere
On the same device and connection, try loading another website or using another online service. If those also fail, troubleshoot the connection before treating the issue as specific to Once Human. If they work, retry the game; that comparison helps narrow the problem but does not prove the game’s servers are at fault.

- Marvelous Durability: Internet cable wrapped with quality cotton braided cord, which makes the LAN cable stronger and more durable. The test proves that this internet cable can be bent at least 10000 times without broken, very suitable for long-term use
- PoE Supported: All lengths of ethernet cord can support the PoE power supply function except 65ft. You don't need additional power supply when installing a PoE camera, which is very convenient and safe
- Wide Compatibility: With the RJ45 Connector, network cable can be perfectly compatible with computers, laptops, modems, routers, PS5, X-Box and other networking devices. It can also be fully backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6e, Cat6, Cat5e, Cat5
2. Restart the game client
Close Once Human and its launcher or client, then start them again and retry. NetEase specifically recommends restarting the client for download or installation problems; it has not presented this as a confirmed fix for every in-game network error.
3. If the problem is during download or installation, follow the FAQ’s targeted steps
For failed downloads or installs, the official FAQ advises checking network stability and whether the device meets the minimum requirements. If the problem persists, it recommends deleting the game files and reinstalling. For the narrower symptom where clicking Download does nothing, the FAQ advises disabling a VPN and restarting the client. That VPN instruction is not general guidance for login failures or gameplay disconnects.

- Cat 8 Speed, Cat 5/5e Value Enjoy Cat 8 Ethernet cable performance at a Cat 5/5e-level value. With up to 40Gbps speed and 2000MHz bandwidth, this high speed internet cable delivers more bandwidth than standard Cat 5 and Cat 5e cables, helping support smooth gaming, streaming, video calls, large file transfers and everyday wired network use.
- 40Gbps Speed, Wide Compatibility This Cat 8 Ethernet cable supports up to 40Gbps data transfer and 2000MHz bandwidth for fast, reliable internet performance. Standard RJ45 connectors are backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat5e devices, including routers, modems, switches, gaming PCs, PS5, PS4, Xbox, smart TVs, laptops and printers.
- Stable U/FTP Shielding Each of the 4 twisted pairs is individually wrapped with aluminum foil to help reduce crosstalk, noise, and signal interference. Combined with RJ45 connectors on both ends, the U/FTP design helps maintain cleaner signal transmission for a stable and reliable wired network connection.
- Nylon Braided Durability The nylon braided jacket adds everyday durability while keeping the cable flexible and easy to route. Reinforced construction helps the cord handle bending, pulling and frequent plugging, making it a reliable choice for desks, gaming rooms, home offices and long-term network setups.
- 50ft Reach for More Setups The 50 ft length makes it easier to connect devices across rooms, along walls, under desks or around corners. Great for router-to-PC connections, modem-to-TV setups, gaming consoles, workstations, printers and other home network equipment that needs a longer Ethernet cable.
4. Check official announcements
Look at Once Human’s official announcements for maintenance notices or relevant fixes before repeatedly changing local network settings. This article cannot verify live server status, and the September 21, 2026 notice does not itself confirm an outage or a fix for a general network error.

The notice asks players reporting persistent issues to include the specific scene and time. For a more actionable report, also include your platform, the exact error wording or a screenshot, what you were doing when it appeared, and which troubleshooting steps you tried. These additional details are practical suggestions, not requirements stated in the notice.

The sources cited here do not verify current server status. Check official announcements for maintenance or fixes; if no relevant notice appears, the error message by itself is not enough to determine whether the issue is local or service-side. Testing another online service on the same connection can help distinguish a broader connection problem from one limited to Once Human, but it cannot confirm an outage.
