Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale is a 2027 rhythm-and-puzzle action-adventure from Malaysian studio Metronomik and publisher Bandai Namco. Its music, food and Southeast Asian influences are built into how the world works—not merely placed around the action as decoration.
What is Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale?
The game follows Kaya, a young hero seeking certification as a Worldbuilder in the whimsical world of Selera. To qualify, she must find Giants scattered across the world and complete the Renewal Ritual, a quest intended to rejuvenate Selera’s flavors. The story frames that objective as Kaya’s coming-of-age journey, with family, courage and self-discovery shaping the adventure.

Metronomik combines exploration, environmental puzzles, rhythm-driven interactions and action encounters. Bandai Namco describes it as a “heartwarming puzzle action-adventure,” but the premise is more specific than that label suggests: tempo is a practical tool for moving through the world and developing Kaya’s abilities.
How rhythm shapes exploration and combat
Music is an input, not just a soundtrack
Players follow musical tempo while exploring. Keeping time can open routes, power encounters and strengthen Kaya, making rhythm part of the game’s progression loop. The available descriptions do not establish a single rhythm difficulty setting or a separate music-only mode, so the exact timing systems and accessibility options remain to be confirmed.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The Spoon and Ondeh abilities
Kaya’s Spoon is her principal action tool. She also relies on the Ondeh’s unique powers to interact with the environment and overcome eccentric creatures. The combination suggests that attacks, traversal and problem solving are designed to overlap: an ability that helps in an encounter may also be the answer to an environmental obstacle.
Puzzles and the journey through Selera
The puzzle design mixes environmental interactions with classic adventure-game problem solving. A demonstration report describes pushing and pulling objects, activating switches and crossing strong winds on the way to Salty Village. These examples point to puzzles that ask you to read the space, manipulate objects and understand how movement hazards fit the surrounding rhythm.

Why food and Southeast Asian culture are central
Selera draws on Southeast Asian traditions, village life, local flavors and music. The title itself is a cultural signpost. Ondeh ondeh is a chewy pandan kueh associated with Malaysia and Indonesia, filled with gula melaka and coated in grated coconut. Kaya is the coconut jam familiar in Singapore and Malaysia. For audiences in the region, those references make the game’s food-centered fantasy immediately legible; for other players, they establish a setting with a specific culinary and cultural vocabulary rather than an anonymous fantasy backdrop.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

The food references also support the game’s fiction. Kaya’s mission is to renew the world’s flavors, so ingredients, recipes, music and communities are connected to the central stakes. The result is a setting where village life and regional traditions can inform what players do, not just what they see in a trailer or background scene.
