Watch One Piece in broadcast order: start with the East Blue Saga, continue through Alabasta, Sky Island, Water 7, Thriller Bark, Summit War, Fish-Man Island, Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island, Wano Country and the Final Saga. The manga-derived sequence is the safest route for a first viewing. Anime-original episodes can be added afterward, or watched as optional detours.
This guide separates manga-canon, mixed canon/filler, anime-canon and filler episodes. That distinction matters because “skip filler” does not mean “skip every episode that is not labeled manga-canon.” Arc names and boundaries below follow widely used fan and guide conventions rather than a single complete official taxonomy.

What the different episode labels mean
Episode databases use several categories, and each supports a different viewing rule:
- Manga-canon: material adapted directly from Eiichiro Oda’s manga and part of the main story.
- Mixed canon/filler: an episode that combines manga material with anime-original scenes, extensions or transitions. Skipping it can remove information that connects canon episodes.
- Anime-canon: original material written for the television anime that is not a direct manga chapter adaptation but may support the show’s continuity.
- Filler: anime-original material that can generally be omitted without losing the manga-derived plot.
If your rule is “main plot only,” skip episodes classified as filler while retaining mixed episodes. If your rule is “manga-only,” you would also remove anime-canon episodes and possibly mixed episodes, but that creates a less coherent television experience. Decide which rule you want before using a skip list.

Every main One Piece arc in order
The table gives the commonly used chronological route. Saga labels are broad guide groupings; individual sites may place a transition episode in a neighboring arc.

| Water 7 Saga | Long Ring Long Land; Water 7; Enies Lobby; Post-Enies Lobby |
| Thriller Bark Saga | Thriller Bark |
| Summit War Saga | Sabaody Archipelago; Amazon Lily; Impel Down; Marineford; Post-War |
| Fish-Man Island Saga | Return to Sabaody; Fish-Man Island |
| Dressrosa Saga | Punk Hazard; Dressrosa |

What each saga contributes to the watch order
East Blue Saga
This is the foundation of the crew, its early goals and the series’ operating rules. Watch the six arcs consecutively because character introductions and promises made in the opening episodes pay off later. The ending of this saga establishes the route into the Grand Line, so jumping ahead loses the context for why the next destination matters.
Alabasta Saga
The Alabasta run is the first long-form journey after the crew enters the Grand Line. The smaller early stops build the setting and add crew history before the story reaches its central kingdom conflict. A first-time viewer should not split these arcs with optional episodes unless using a current classification table to verify the exact episode boundary.

Sky Island Saga
Jaya functions as the lead-in to Skypiea. Treat the two arcs as one continuous block: the first establishes the clues and competing ambitions, while the second delivers the isolated-island adventure. Viewers who skip anime-original episodes should return to the next manga-derived episode immediately after this pair.
Water 7 Saga
Long Ring Long Land precedes the Water 7 and Enies Lobby storyline, followed by Post-Enies Lobby. This section contains several transitions, so an aggressive skip policy can accidentally remove mixed material. Check the episode label rather than assuming every short bridge between named arcs is filler.
Thriller Bark Saga
Thriller Bark is a self-contained saga in the common guide structure. It sits between the Water 7 aftermath and the events that launch the Summit War sequence. Watching it in place preserves the order in which its crew and world information are introduced.
Summit War Saga
The Sabaody Archipelago, Amazon Lily, Impel Down, Marineford and Post-War arcs form a tightly connected escalation. Do not reorder these blocks or treat the shorter sections as optional side stories: each changes the circumstances of the next. Filler can be removed around them, but mixed episodes should remain in the playlist.

Return to Sabaody is the bridge into Fish-Man Island. The two-arc sequence is best watched without interruption because the return section establishes the crew’s changed status and the following arc develops the setting that status affects.

Dressrosa Saga
Punk Hazard leads directly into Dressrosa. The first arc sets up the alliances and research that drive the second, so watch them in order even if you are using a skip list for anime-original material. This is another point where mixed episodes can contain connective scenes.
Whole Cake Island Saga
Zou, Whole Cake Island and Levely (Reverie) are commonly grouped together. Zou supplies the immediate setup, Whole Cake Island carries the main adventure, and Levely shifts attention to wider world events before Wano Country. Guide boundaries vary slightly, but the broadcast sequence does not.
Wano Country Saga
Wano Country is treated as one long saga in most arc maps. Because its television run is extensive, use episode-level classifications when deciding whether to skip anything; an arc label alone cannot tell you whether a particular episode is mixed or filler.
Final Saga: Egghead and Elbaph/Elbaf
The official story index identifies Egghead as anime episodes 1089–1155. The official anime listing surfaced episode 1180 on September 27, 2026 under Elbaf, so Egghead is not the current endpoint. “Elbaph” and “Elbaf” are both used in English guide material; follow the spelling used by the service or database you are using. Recheck the latest official listing immediately before publishing or beginning a catch-up marathon because the active arc and episode number change.
One Piece filler arcs and blocks in broadcast order
These are the multi-episode anime-original groupings most often named by episode guides. Names and boundaries are guide conventions, so an episode can appear under two neighboring labels.
| Filler arc or block | Episodes | Classification note |
|---|---|---|
| Warship Island | 54–60 | Anime-original block |
| Post-Alabasta | 131–135 | Anime-original block |
| Goat Island | 136–138 | Anime-original block |
| Ruluka Island | 139–143 | Anime-original block |
| G-8 | 196–206 | Often recommended as an optional watch |
| Ocean’s Dream | 220–224 | Guide grouping |
| Foxy’s Return | 225–226 | Some guides place episode 225 in both groupings |
| Ice Hunter | 326–335 | Episode 336 is also classified as filler by Anime Filler List |
| Spa Island | 382–384 | Anime-original block |
| Little East Blue | 426–429 | Anime-original block |
| Z’s Ambition | 575–578 | Anime-original block |
| Caesar’s Retrieval | 626–628 | Only part of the range may be marked filler by an episode database |
| Silver Mine | 747–750 | Anime-original block |
| Marine Rookie | 780–782 | Anime-original block |
| Cidre Guild | 895–896 | Anime-original block |
| Uta’s Past | 1029–1030 | Anime-original block |
GamesRadar specifically calls G-8 a filler arc worth watching. That is an editorial recommendation, not a claim that G-8 is manga-canon. Completionists can watch every block; plot-focused viewers can skip them and resume at the next episode classified as manga-canon or mixed.

Anime Filler List separately marks anime-canon episodes 50–51, 93, 213–216, 418–420, 453–456, 497–499, 506, 737, 775, and 1084. These are not labeled filler by that guide. Whether you want them depends on your goal: they are optional if you insist on manga-only material, but they can be enjoyable and can smooth the television narrative.
Examples of mixed canon/filler episodes include 45–47, 61, 68–69, 101, and 226, with additional mixed entries later in the run. Keep mixed episodes when your instruction is simply “skip filler,” because cutting them can remove manga-derived scenes along with the anime additions. A strict manga-only route requires checking each episode’s detailed notes rather than deleting every range listed in a broad filler guide.
Choose the right way to watch
| Viewer goal | Episodes to watch | How to handle anime-original material |
|---|---|---|
| First-time viewer focused on the story | All main arcs in broadcast order | Skip episodes explicitly marked filler; keep mixed episodes |
| Manga-only completionist | Manga-canon episodes, checked one by one | Usually omit filler and anime-canon; inspect mixed episodes individually |
| Full anime completionist | Every broadcast episode | Watch all filler, anime-canon and mixed material |
| Viewer sampling optional adventures | Main route plus selected blocks | Try G-8 first, then add other blocks by premise or available time |
Step-by-step: how to watch One Piece in order
- Start at episode 1. Follow the saga sequence in the main-arc table rather than a movie or special-release order.
- Keep a current episode guide open. Use it to identify whether the next episode is manga-canon, mixed, anime-canon or filler.
- Apply your rule consistently. For “skip filler,” remove only filler. For “manga-only,” remove anime-canon as well and inspect mixed episodes.
- Resume at the next classified main-story episode. Do not jump by arc name alone when a block contains mixed classifications.
- Recheck the newest episodes. The active Final Saga material changes, and databases update their classifications.
Why filler counts disagree
Anime Filler List reported 94 filler episodes, or 8 percent of the series, on a page updated June 28, 2026. GamesRadar reported 95 filler episodes, or around 9 percent, in 2026. Neither number is an official Toei statistic. Different totals result from update dates, treatment of mixed episodes, and whether a borderline episode is grouped with an anime-original block.
Use the ranges as a viewing aid, not as a permanent count. If two guides disagree about one episode, read the episode-level classification and preserve any mixed material needed to understand the surrounding canon.
Production and current-status notes
Toei Animation announced in October 2024 that regular production would pause after episode 1122, with new Egghead episodes scheduled to return in April 2025. The announcement also described a specially re-edited Fish-Man Island version. That was a historical scheduling update, not the current broadcast timetable.
Toei’s official description states: “One Piece” is produced by Toei Animation and based on the best-selling manga created by Eiichiro Oda. The anime’s official story index places Egghead at episodes 1089–1155, while the September 27, 2026 listing showed episode 1180 under Elbaf. Check the latest official listing before publication or a long binge, since the endpoint is moving.
