For a prerecorded YouTube channel that should keep looping while your computer is off, start with a cloud playout service. StreamNeo is the first alternative to consider: it runs uploaded videos and playlists from the cloud, supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and gives new accounts a free first day. Gyre is another cloud-looping option. If you need to send a live camera, gameplay, or produced feed, an encoder such as OBS is a different, self-managed workflow.
Choose an alternative by what your channel will play
“Nonstop YouTube channel” can mean two different things: repeating prerecorded files as a live broadcast, or continuously sending a live or produced feed. The first can run from a cloud playout service; the second needs a live source and an encoder workflow. Pick based on the content and who will operate playback—not just on the service name.
| Option | Best fit | Where playback runs | Key consideration |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | Uploaded prerecorded videos or playlists for continuous YouTube streaming | Provider cloud | YouTube only; one flat price per slot for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps |
| Gyre | Uploaded prerecorded videos assembled into a looping playlist | Provider cloud | Its site describes continuous cloud looping; verify current plans and limits with the provider |
| OneStream Live 24/7 | Prerecorded YouTube streams using OneStream’s dedicated continuous-stream feature | Provider cloud | Its help article says Enterprise is required and each configured run can last up to 30 days |
| OBS on a computer | Live camera, gameplay, or a produced feed; also a self-managed prerecorded workflow | A computer you operate | The machine, connection, monitoring, and recovery are your responsibility |
Service descriptions are provider-published, not independent reliability tests. Check current capabilities, destination support, eligibility, and checkout totals before committing.
Cloud alternatives for prerecorded video
1. StreamNeo: cloud looping for YouTube
StreamNeo is a cloud service from Yorker Media for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream; playback continues in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It is YouTube-only and plays uploaded video rather than going live from a camera.

2. Gyre: another cloud playlist option
Gyre’s official product page describes uploading files, making a playlist, connecting YouTube, and letting the playlist loop continuously in the cloud. That makes it a candidate when your goal is prerecorded video rather than a camera or gameplay feed. Its workflow description is vendor-published; check Gyre’s current pricing, storage and stream limits, restart behavior, and destination availability directly before choosing it.
3. OneStream Live’s own 24/7 feature
OneStream Live supports prerecorded streaming, playlists, scheduling, external encoder input, and multistreaming. Its dedicated 24/7 help article says the continuous-stream feature is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, and allows a configured run of up to 30 days. Users can select media from a computer, OneStream storage, or cloud storage, then choose a duration and schedule the broadcast. See OneStream’s 24/7 streaming instructions.

OneStream’s public pricing page lists “24-Hours Streams” at $30/month. The help article says Enterprise is required, while the pricing page lists an add-on; those descriptions do not establish the same eligibility terms. Confirm that your account qualifies and what the complete bill will be before switching. The listed add-on price alone does not establish the total plan cost. See OneStream’s pricing page.
The free-plan help article describes prerecorded live streams limited to 15 minutes, no playlists, a maximum resolution of 720p, and storage capped at 1 GB. That free tier, as described, does not support a continuous playlist workflow. See OneStream’s free-plan details.

When OBS or another encoder makes more sense
OBS is a self-managed route when you need to send an actively produced feed—such as gameplay, a camera, or a mixed program—to YouTube. OneStream lists OBS, XSplit, vMix, and Wirecast as encoder integrations, but an encoder is not the same as a cloud playlist service. In a self-managed setup, the computer or server must stay operational and connected, and someone must monitor it and respond if the stream stops.
An existing computer may be sufficient for your workload; a new purchase is not inherently required. If you do choose dedicated hardware, select it for the actual encoding workload and operating conditions. The available evidence does not establish a particular PC specification or model as suitable for every stream.

Prepare YouTube and test the chosen workflow
- Enable Live access early. Google’s YouTube live-streaming guide says: “Enable Live on your channel at least 24 hours in advance and make sure your account is verified before you do so”. Plan for this lead time when setting up a channel. Read Google’s Live Streaming Guide.
- Choose the content path. For prerecorded files, make sure the service supports the playlist and continuous duration you need. For a produced feed, prepare the encoder and the computer or server that will run it.
- Connect the YouTube destination. Follow the chosen provider’s current setup steps and treat the stream key as a credential. Do not publish it or share it where others can use it.
- Test before going public. Google advises testing the full stream setup privately, including internet connection, camera framing, audio capture quality, and lighting. Apply the relevant checks to your workflow; this guide does not establish every requirement for every cloud prerecorded setup.
- Check rights and channel policy. Use content you have the rights to stream, and review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization rules for your channel and material. A technically continuous broadcast does not itself establish permission to use a recording or compliance with platform policies.
Compare operating costs and continuity, not just the headline price
A cloud service shifts playback off your own computer, but its plan limits and subscription terms matter. Compare storage, supported quality, playlist behavior, run duration, recovery controls, support, and the destinations allowed by the plan. For OneStream Live, confirm Enterprise eligibility and the full charge alongside the listed add-on; for Gyre, verify current terms with Gyre. No independent reliability or reconnect-performance comparison is established here.
A self-managed encoder may avoid a cloud-playout subscription, but its real operating cost can include hardware, electricity, hosting, internet service, maintenance, monitoring, and the time needed to recover from failures. If you already have a computer, consider its suitability and the cost of keeping it on; do not assume buying hardware is necessary for cloud playout.
Troubleshoot the most likely failure points
- The continuous option is unavailable in your account: check plan eligibility and feature limits. OneStream’s dedicated 24/7 help article says Enterprise is required; verify your account’s current terms with OneStream.
- A playlist workflow is missing on a free plan: confirm the tier’s limits. OneStream’s free-plan article describes no playlists and a 15-minute prerecorded-stream limit.
- The broadcast stops when your computer shuts down: this points to a self-managed encoder workflow. Keep the machine and network running, or use a cloud playout service for uploaded prerecorded files.
- YouTube Live is not available when you are ready: enable the feature and verify the channel ahead of time; Google recommends doing so at least 24 hours before streaming.
- A stream drops or fails to resume: inspect the provider’s current recovery controls and status, and confirm the stream key and destination configuration. Reliability and restart performance have not been independently tested for the services compared here.
- Playback is blocked or the channel faces a policy issue: review your rights to the content and YouTube’s applicable rules. Streaming software cannot grant rights to recordings or determine whether a channel meets platform requirements.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the Monthly plan is $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start your free first day.
